Pet Search By Kayla Hoffman Simi Valley Missing Pets is one of my favorite places to volunteer. They help find and rescue lost and abandoned dogs. I assist by watching the puppies at charity events, and even hike up in the mountains to help find dogs! It is really exciting and I really feel like I am giving back to the community! They have a Facebook page: “Simi Valley Missing Pets” where they post lost/found dogs, and information for search parties if you are interested in helping out by finding dogs or even just by helping connect people to their lost dogs.
Key Club Week: November 5th – 9th Member’s showed their Key Club spirit by making thank you cards, trick-or-treating for Unicef, dressing in spirit colors and bringing their friends to our meeting at the end of the week!

Roller Coasters and Spirit Battles By Arielle Madayag Fall Rally was the best, and the most enjoyable night of my life. My friends and I had so much fun going on roller coasters, showing off our spirit to all the other key clubbers, and battling for that spirit stick. Although we didn't win, at least we made it in the top 5! I'm so excited for the upcoming rallies within my high school years. It was one of the best days I’ve ever had and I encourage you to go and experience this amazing day of spirit and fun.

Giraffes & Bunnies & Turtles OH MY! By Kaila Mattera High school students woke early and traveled from all over on a Saturday, that could only mean one thing, Fall Rally. At Six Flags Magic Mountain on Saturday November 10th, Key Club members came to share an experience unlike any other: Fall Rally South. As a first time attendee, every expectation I had was met and surpassed! Key Clubbers were vibrantly decked out in every color of the rainbow with every animal that you could imagine as a mascot on their t-shirts. I cannot believe that anyone could feel any other way than being filled with spirit because our attendance supported Pediatric Trauma Program and celebrated our accomplishments in raising so much money for this amazing cause; truly making a difference. Seeing not only the size of some other divisions at the spirit rally but also the intensity of their Key Club spirit was awe inspiring. This year we made Division 42 East history! For the first time ever, we got into the top 5 divisions during the rally! We showed everyone that the amount of people does not measure the amount of your spirit! By the end of the day, my respect for Key Club grew ten times and I feel so honored to be a part of this amazing organization that is truly unique and supportive of its
members and their efforts to reach a common goal nothing short of changing the world for the better.

Upcoming Events
Toy Drive for Knights of Columbus When: Dec. 1 – Dec. 14th Where: Please bring toys (unwrapped) to the CCC We will be collecting toys of $10 or more for children who have nothing and wouldn’t expect a Christmas this year. The toys are sent to various Knights or Parish functions to be wrapped and given to the children. Last year, over 150 families in need received these toys. For each $10 or more toy that you turn in, you will receive one hour of service, and you feel all good inside knowing that you are making a difference in a child’s life. So please, if you have any questions or ideas that can help for this, please email Elvira Hernandez at [email protected], message her on Facebook, or post something on the Key Club Facebook group!! Rose Float Decoration and Food Wagon Possible Dates: Dec. 8, Dec. 15, Dec. 22, and Dec. 26 - 31 Where: Pasadena, CA What: We are looking into securing a date(s) to help decorate the Kiwanis Rose Parade Float, and/or feed the volunteers in the Kiwanis food wagon. If you are interested, please talk to Paolo. ([email protected])
Ongoing Projects
Pop Tabs Throughout the year we collect pop tabs for Ronald McDonald house. This is a place in close proximity to a hospital where families can stay when their child is in the hospital. They recycle the pop tabs and use the money to help families pay to stay at the house as well as pay the utilities and other expenses needed to keep the house running. So keep collecting! They can be from canned beverages and even the tabs from canned food!
S.O.S. (Save Old Spectacles) We are continually collecting glasses for SOS. Check with everyone you know to see if they have any old specs that they do not use anymore. Keep in mind, the end of the school year is ending and if every member brings in at least 3 pairs of glasses, our sponsoring Kiwanis of Santa Susana will throw us a pizza party!
Feeding the Homeless Our club helps at 2 different locations for feeding the homeless and we could always use more volunteers! We help with set up, dinner service, dishes, and clean up after. *PLEASE SIGN UP WITH LILY OR MICHAEL BEFORE SHOWING UP! •Stillwaters Café at Shepard of the
Valley Church: Thursdays from 5-7pm
•The Samaritan Center: 1st Thursday of the month from 4:30 - 6pm Located on 230 Royal Ave.

Message from Paolo Hello, Narwhals! November treated our club and division really well. I would like to say thank you to those who went to Fall Rally South. For the first time ever in Narwhal history, Division 42 East made the Top 5 in the spirit session. I hope all of you who went had an amazing time and I know I cannot wait until Fall Rally South 2013! December is a month of giving, celebrating and cheering. Holiday service is very important to our Key Club. Whether it's donating to a charity, making scarves for the homeless, or donating toys to children who are less fortunate. The holiday season brings good vibes because everyone around you is so jolly and happy. I am so thankful to have wonderful members like all of you because you make up the one million reasons to serve. I wish you and your families’ happy holidays! -- Paolo Recto Santa Susana Key Club President 2012-13
