What Goes Into Making a Decision? Good decisions...bad

decisions. Have you

ever stepped back and

thought about why you

made certain choices?

What made you decide

to eat that cookie for

breakfast instead of

fruit? Why did you not

talk during class? Of

course these are very

simple decisions that

we make everyday….but

they are still decisions.

The decisions we make are strongly influenced by the expectations

and values that others place on us. The ability to “stop and think

before taking action” is what helps us make better decisions. Here

are some questions to think about:

(1) What would happen if you made the wrong decision?

(2) Was there anything that helped you make a good choice?

(3) Do you ever seek input from others when making decisions?

It’s a Matter of Record and Participation

One decision each 4-H member made at the beginning of the year was

whether or not to complete a 4-H Portfolio & Project Book or

Participate in 8 activities. 4-H Members who complete the task earn

the privilege to attend 4-H Experience the Fun Day in May! Project

Books & Portfolios AND the 8 Activities Forms are DUE APRIL 15th!

Don’t miss out! Need help? Ask your 4-H Club Leader or contact

the 4-H Office.

Natchitoches Parish 4-H Junior Leader’s Visit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

The Junior Leaders participated in a service learning project last year in

which they learned about cancer and took part in the American Cancer

Society Relay for Life event. Service learning projects are developed

by youth and focus on what they think the need is in the community.

This project allowed youth to connect outcomes to real life experiences.

To celebrate their work, Junior Leaders were awarded an educational

trip to Memphis, TN. Youth had to complete community service

projects, attend monthly club meetings and volunteer 15 hours through-

out the club year. This was in addition to participating in the mandatory

fundraising and service projects. The group raised over $1500 last year

for the American Cancer Society in addition to the donations of hun-

dreds of soda tab tops. While in Memphis the group got to rub shoul-

ders with country music stars Brantley Gilbert, Ronnie Owens and Lucy

Hale who were in town for the Country Care’s St. Jude radio-thon

fundraiser as well as tour Elvis’s home, Graceland.
