Report Description:This report highlights the differences in broadband availability in rural vs. urban areas. The metrics used to illustrate these differences include speed, technology and provider availability.

    - Rural and Urban definitions: Census bureau (2000).- Data as of June 2011, Report published February 2011

Speed AvailabilityThis section illustrates the differences in download, upload, and combinationdownload/ upload speed availability in rural vs. urban areas.

MapThe map illustrates the difference in speed availability,in terms of percent of population, for the download > 3mbps, upload > 768 kbps speed tier. This is calculatedby subtracting the percent of the population withaccess to this speed in rural areas from the percent of

the population with access to this speed in urban areas.

ChartThis chart displays thepercent of urban andrural populations withineach state with reported

broadband speeds of 3mbps download and 768kbps upload.
