Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan grieves the saddemise of Dr.H.K.Kejriwal on Thursday,July 26, 2019 after a brief illness.
Dr. H.K.Kejriwal, the Bhavan’s esteemedVice Chairman was a well known art collectorcum philanthropist. He has immenselycontributed for the development of theBhavan’s Bengaluru Kendra.
Early Life: Dr. H K Kejriwal’s father decided to send him to theprestigious Hindu school in Kolkata since he felt that child Kejriwal wouldbe influenced by fine aesthetics of classical music and art by studying ina place that was the hotbed of culture.
Dr. Kejriwal’s education was enriched by his close association withthe Mullick family, Shantiniketan, Rabindranath Tagore and several othereminent artists as well as art patrons. What was initiated by his father, who was an art collector himself, created an unquenchable thirst inDr.Kejriwal for collecting art and his art collection is probably amongthe largest private collections in the country and spans centuries, goingway back to the 3rd century BC.
Dr. H K Kejriwal was not new to receiving honours and awards. There are innumerable institutions like our own Bhavan and the KarnatakaChitrakala Parishath and a score of artists who have justifiably lavishedtheir honours on this patron of fine arts. The award from the RoerichInternational Foundation Moscow, which came his way in 2007 is ofspecial significance.
Dr. H K Kejriwal developed the Chitrakala Parishath, which is thehub of visual arts today in the country and has gifted his personalcollections to the H K Kejriwal Museum.
With the demise of Dr. H.K.Kejriwal, a great patron of art and culture,Bhavan has lost a personal friend, philosopher and guide leaving theentire Bhavan family deeply saddened. Bhavan’s family prays for hissoul to rest in peace.
