National Highways of IndiaNational Highways of India by Dr. Gaurav
Garg
National Highways Authority of India was set up by an act of the
Parliament, NHAI Act, 1988 The Highways/Expressways (direct
connectivity between two places without many brakes)
constitute only about 1.7% of the length of all roads, they carry
about 40% of the road traffic . Mumbai-Pune Expressway was the
first expressway in India. Expressway reduces the transportation
cost as less time is taken to cover that distance due to direct
connectivity.
