State Compliance Activities – 2005

Adoption

Pass local resolution formally recognizing NIMS and adopting NIMS and ICS principles and policies.

Assessment

Conduct an assessment to measure your jurisdictions capability in incident response and determine which requirements are already met and develop a strategy for NIMS implementation.

Approximately 24,000 EM personnel completed IS 700 & 800.

60% of NIMCAST questions were “compliant” answers

Planning• Revise and update plans and SOPs to incorporate NIMS components,

principles, and policies

• Support efforts to implement the NIMS statewide• Develop NIMS Implementation Plan to meet compliancy and remediate

shortfalls identified in assessment.

Training & Exercises• Complete ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, and position-specific training, as

appropriate, and ensure that NIMS and ICS training are part of the program for all new employees, recruits, and responders

• Participate in a regional, local, or tribal NIMS ICS-oriented exercise that involves responders from multiple disciplines and incorporate corrective actions into plans and procedures

Personnel already trained in approved ICS course are not required to take additional ICS courses.

Equipment• Utilize NIMS, ODP, and S&T interoperability standards for equipment

purchases

Resource Management• Participate in regional and state mutual aid agreements and assistance
