EH DOMESTIC WATER SAMPLE COMPLIANT RATE

• On average the general performance for the EH domestic water sample compliance rate was at 88.8 in 2013/2014 and 87.7% for 2014/2015 which showed to be an intrinsic achievement to the target of 100%, progressive towards the attainment of the millennium development goal and target.

• The sample analysis in the period under review increased from 38 220 to 44 290 domestic water samples collected for routine sampling were achieved for the year.

EH FLOUR MILLS DEALERSHIP COMPLIANCE RATE

Inspection activities carried out at flour mills activities are part of the enforcement performed by the food control authorities to ensure that flour meets the nutrient quality as well as safety specifications established in standards and regulations. Again better delivered indicator was on EH flour mills compliance rate with an annual performance rate of 88.5 % 2013/2014 to 75.3% 2014/2015 was achieved for the year showing a better compliance.

EH FOOD SAMPLE BACTERIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS COMPLIANCE RATE

Food samples are taken in terms of the regulation governing microbiological standards for foodstuffs and related matters. The compliant rate for the period 2013/2014 69.7 and 65.4 in 2014/2015. EH food sample bacteriological analysis for the year 2013/2014 was 10 732, with an incline to 11 576 in the 2014/2015 financial year.

EH FOOD SAMPLE CHEMICAL SAMPLING AND COMPLIANT

Food sampling is a process used for checking that food is safe and that it does not contain harmful contaminants, or that it contains only permitted additives at acceptable levels, or that it contains the right levels of key ingredients and its label declarations are correct, or to know the levels of nutrients present.

EH food sample chemical compliance rate was sitting at 77.5 2013/2014 to 65.4% in 2014/2015 financial year.

To assess and recommend control strategies for any operation involving a mixture, storage and sale of chemical e.g. chemical process, welding fumes, mixed effluents and group 1 hazardous substance use and general safety.

EH hazardous substance dealer compliance rate was at 87.2 to 85.9% in the period 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 respectively.

The management of healthcare risk waste shall start with the correct identification of the waste, followed by classification, segregation, collection and minimization. The EH health care waste generator compliance rate was at 76.6 to 75.8% in the periods under review.

EH INTERNATIONAL CONVEYANCE INSPECTION AND COMPLIANCE PROPORTIONS

The procedures and methods of customs registration shall be applied depending on the category of goods conveyed across the customs border, the kinds of transportation used for its conveyance (air, sea, river, rail, and other transport). The customs procedures shall be applied regardless of the goods country of origin, the country of departure or the country of destination. EH international importation consignment compliance rate was at 88.8 and 72.4.0% for the period. A lower pattern when compared to other indicators emerged in this case which hinted a need for redress in order to attain better.

INTERNATIONAL IMPORTATION CONSIGNMENT ARRIVAL AT POINT OF ENTRY COMPLIANCE RATE

A certificate issued or approved for the state of origin, showing that the state of origin, showing that the state of origin has been free of all possible transmittable diseases for twelve month period next preceding shipment. EH PREMISE TOBACCO LEGISLATION COMPLIANCE RATE

• The Tobacco Products Control Act, 1993 (Act No. 83 of 1993) promulgate the acts to prohibit or restrict smoking in public places; to regulate the sale and advertising of tobacco products in certain respects and to prescribe what is to be reflected on packages; and to provide for related matters. EH premises tobacco compliance rate was at 86.6 and 87.9%, illustrating considerable achievement.

EH NOTIFIABLE DISEASE INVESTIGATION COMPLIANCE RATE

A notification system for Notifiable Medical Conditions (NMC) is designed to collect reliable, accurate and timely notification data in the health sector and is a major tool in establishing an early warning system (disease alert) in order to detect diseases that have an epidemic or outbreak potential. Notification is also vital in order to prevent the spread of infections and outbreak control1. EH notiafiable disease investigation rate was at 86.6% to 87.9, which was established to be a better compliance.

Recommendations

• Other provinces were determined with nil reports for some months and by quarter, which in most of the cases can then down trend or decline our estimation and consequently the overall performance.

• Provincial effort. Intensified monitoring was established within International conveyance and imported consignment arrival indicators, but however a lower compliant rate was also well recorded among these two indicators of 59% and 57% respectively.

CHALLENGES

• The automated calculations for rates in all indicators ought to match those the manual calculations.

• The are substantial difference between automated and manual calculations which require review.
