occupational hygiene and occupational diseases

TOR 1:
Develop of a guideline on establishing ODs
surveillance system for developing countries and
disseminate the results through the Global
Network of WHOcc.
TOR 2:
Develop of a model integrating provision of BOHS and
Non-communicable Diseases in the primary health care
system in Viet Nam and document and share the
experience through the Global Network of WHOcc.
TOR 3:
Develop of guidelines on risk assessment and
management of occupational hazards in mining and
disseminate the results through the Global Network
of WHOcc.
Issues and challenges
o > 600 thousand enterprises, >97% of which are
SSEs and MSEs with backward technologies =
result in risks of increased occupational
diseases and accidents.

technologies and materials → new types of
occupational diseases.

At least 10 more types of new diseases. 30 thousand people newly contracting occupational diseases.
National target program on Prevention of ODs
o Increase annually by 5% medical units providing periodical medical
check-ups for workers, increase by 5% number of workers who are
examined to detect ODs, and increase by 3% number of units
having work environment monitored and supervised.
o 100% of workers certified with occupational diseases are provided
with health care and rehabilitation in line with laws.
