AGGELIDOU KLAIRI was born in Famagusta in 1932. She studied Literature at the University of Athens. Mostly a poet, she has also published two treatises: “Eleni Hadjipetrou, A life in Education”, "Robert Tristan Coffin”.

In May 1991 she was elected member of Parliament as meritorious candidate of the Democratic Rally and in February 1993 she was appointed Minister of Education in the Government of Glafkos Clerides. On her own initiative the Ministery of Education became Ministry of Education and Culture.
ALEXAKIS ORESTIS is born in 1931 in Corfu. He is a poet. He was awarded by the “Nikiforos Vrettakos” prize of the Municipality of Athens.

ARVANITIS T. NIKOS (1928- ).Writer (poet-autor).Nikos Arvanitis has studied Political Sciences in Athens. His first career was in the area of public administration. Hehas been Director of Cinematography and General Director at the Ministry of Industry. He showed a genuine interest in and got himiself engaged with literature from an early age. He published poems, narratives, novels, essays, articles, research papers and literary critism. He is Head Director of the “Kinonikes Tlomes” (Social Incisions) periodical. He is subsciber and Chairman of the Hellenic Company of Cristian Letters. Tassos Athanassiadis was born in 1913 in Salichli, a town near Izmir, Asia Minor. In 1922, after the events which drive the Greek Population away from Asia Minor, he came to Athens as a refugie. He read the Law at the National University of Athens and practiced it for a few years. He became, in succession, general Secretary, Theatre Director of the Greek National Theatre, and President of the Board of the Greek National Opera. He has received the greatest number of literary awards and prizes ever conferred upon a Greek author, including five Greek State Prizes, and two Athens Academy ones. In 1988 he was awarded the “Ipeksi” Prize of Greek and Turkish détente for his novel “The Children of Niobe”. He was also honoured with the Cross of Grand Officer of Phoenix by the President of Greek Democracy and recently with the Great Prize Herder of Germany. Some of his works have been translated into French, Swedish, Italian, Portiguese, German. He is a member of the National Society of Greek Authors and since 1986 full Member of the Athens Academy, depertment of Modern Greek Arts and Letters.

CHRYSANTHIS, KYPROS M.D., Ph.D., O. St.J. Poet, prose writer and dramatist, author of children’s literature, translator, anthologist,
magazine publisher, critic, medical doctor, researcher, journalist. Was born in Nicosia, attended the Pancyprian Gymnasium, studied medicine (1933-1939) at the University of Athens and received hi doctorate from the same University (1948). In the academic year 1951-1952, he attended post-graduate studies at the Institute of Child Health in London. He lives and practices the medical profession in Nikosia.
Kypros Chrysanthis is one of the most prolific Greek authors, an author who is known well beyond the geopolitical boundaries of Hellenism, while his works have been translated into many languages.
Chrysanthis is also one of the most inportant connecting links in the cultural life of Cyprus, especially over the last thirty years, both with his literary work as well as with his duties on a number of cultural associations. He is the publisher and editor in chief of the magazine Pnevmatiki Kypros, chairmain of the board of directors of the Greek Cultural Association of Cyprus, of the Association of Cyprus Studies and of National Association of Greek Writers of Cyprus. His literary work has amassed a great deal of mentions of merit, among which special importance is held by the First National Prize for Poetry of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Greece (1969), the “Lambros Porfyras”. DAFNOMILIS, ALEKOS: Alekos Dafnomilis (well-know by his “nom-de-plume” as Alekos Stylianou) was born in Thessaloniki on 7 February 1947. His father, Stelios Dafnomilis, was descended from a noble Byzantine family, and his mother, Ourania Ikonomou, comes from a family that contributed heroes to the Greek War of Independence.
A.D. took his degree in Political Science, and after graduating studied public relations. He has been editor of the following Thessaloniki newspapers: “Nea Alithia”, “Foni tou Vorrà” and “Esperini Ora” (all dailies) and “Proina Nea” and “Kyriaki” (weeklies). He has also been a correspondent of the London newspaper, “Paneuropa”, director of the learned literary journal, “Ellinika Cronika”, and book critic of the periodical, “Paremvasi”. He has directed the cultural and artistic programme of the public relations bureau of the Ministry of Northern Greece. Since 1984 he has been Professor of Journalism, Public Relations and Information at the Centre for Arts and Social Studies of the Alexander European University; and he was director of the Hellenic Centre of Media Studies from 1987 to 1988. For ten years he has been President of the Northern Greece Music and Literature Society. He has also been Vice-President of the Northern Greece section of the Association of Greek Publicists, and Director of the North Greece Choirs Festival.

Born in Lakka, on the island of Paxi, Eptanissa. Mrs Grammatikos obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology from the University of Athens and has been a member of the National Society of Greek Authors since 1979.
Mrs. Grammatikos has published several collections of poems, reviews and articles and has translated various literary works. She speaks Italian, French, English and Spanish.
Her first collection of poems “25 Toccates and 6 Fugues” was published in 1979 and was honored with the “Maria P. Ralli Award” in 1980 (new writer category). Her next collection of poems titled “Oracle” (Philippotis Editions) included poems that were awarded the First Prize in the 1981 “Literary Competition of the House of Fine Arts and Literature”.
“Ionian Sea 900 East” (Chrysothemis Editions) was published in 1985. This collection of poems received in 1993 the “Dionysus Award” in Smyrna, Turkey. Her most recent work is titled “The Pomegranate and the Sound” (Delphini Editions, 1996).
Mrs. Grammatikos spent ten years in Milan, Italy where she published several poems in the Italian press. KALAMARAS, VASSO (nee Papayiannaki)Born in Athens, Greece. Arrived in Australia in 1950 and since then has been a permanent resident in Perth WA. She was educated in Greece and studied drama in Athens 1960-61, Graduate Diploma in Education, Curtin University of Technology WA, Associateship in Fine Arts from WA Institute of Technology. For 22 years she taught Modern Greek at C.M.C. of TAFE Perth Campus and has been writing since the early 1950s. Vasso Kalamaras has had collections of poetry and short stories, novels and plays published in Greece, Australia and America. Most of her work has been translated in English by the author. Some of her short stories have been translated into Chinese by Fen Liang, a lecturer at Tianjin Foreign Languages Institute, China. She received in Athens the Tsakalos Literature Prize for Prose in 1978 for Impressions of a Long Journey, Landscape and Soul and was among the finalists in the Peter Stuyvesant Cultural Foundation/ Sydney PEN Centre Golden Jubilee Literary Contest 1981. She won the Hellenism Award for 1992. Received Certificate from Shire of Manjimup in recognition and appreciation for outstanding contribution to the community on the occasion of the launch of her book “Genesis: 33 Poems”. She received several grants from the Australia Council’s Literature Board in 1976, 1977, 1987, 1989, 1991 and from the Department of Arts, Western Australia, 1991 with which to continue her writing. She is represented in the World Anthology of Short Stories and the World Anthology of Poetry, published in Athens as well as in Decade, an anthology of Western Australian short fiction, also represented in the Greek Anthology by Dr George Kanarakis (Sydney) and in Greek Voices in Australia in English also by Dr George Kanarakis and many other anthologies throughout Australia and overseas. “Conflicts of Love” by Dr Con Castan, a book written about her work. “Migrant Daughters” by Helen Nickas. With the aim of introducing the Greek comedy character Karagiozis to Australian audiences, has written three bilingual plays with a Literature grant from the Australian Literature Board,, Sydney, O Karagiozis Strikes It Rich performed in Sydney and Canberra in Greek, 1987 and Karagiozis The Interpreter was performed with a grant in Perth by WA Theatre Company, with John Saunders as Director. Vasso Kalamaras is the first author to write Karagiozis in English and introduce this character to Australian audiences. She participated in many literature conferences and festivals in Australia. The latest being at the International Greek Writers Conference in Delphi, Greece, 1992. Also in radio interviews, on TV, and in magazines, on Literature participation (poetry and prose) in Greece and in Australia. Future books are; The Expatriates, a book of short stories and her new three-act play People, Life, Cement and Karagiozis Down Under was performed February 6-29 in Fremantle - John Saunders as Director, supported by

KANAVA, ZOE:Zoe Kanava was born in 1933 in Nea Anchialos, Volos. She has attended course on child developmental psychology and child psychology. She is involved in literature for children and young people. Some of her words have received awards from the “Women’s Literary Group”, “The Society of the Greek book for children”, “The Society of Christian Literature” and “Piraean League”. Her book “Hitch-hiking at Eeaster” has received a mention in the roll of honour of Padua University. Many of her poems and prose pieces have been translated into foreign languages and appeared in newspapers and magazines in Greece and abroad. Her poetry and prose are distinguished for their metaphysical guest, the profundity of thought, the wording and expressive harmony of the verse and the anguished querries on life and man’s destiny. She has won many first prizes and other distinctions in international competitions. She is a full member of the National Society of Greek Authors and other spiritual and cultural associations.
KARYTINOU - KOMNENOU, STELLA: She was born in Athens from a family of teachers. She is a native of the islands of Ithaka and Samos. She studied Law at the University of Athens and Vocal Music-Theory at the National Conservatory. Her studies were followed by concerts and many significant presentations in the field of art, as well as in musical and literary radio and television broadcasts. Married with Manolis Karytinos. She has three children, two of them artists as well. The first child, Lukas Karytinos, is chief conductor of the Greek National Opera. Stella Karytinou started her career as a high official in the Bank of Greece, after she attended the programme of “vocational education for officials”. On the top of her Bank duties she developed many and various activities, such as collaboration in children’s campings of the Institution, acting as a guide to the members of the greek-american assosiation AHEPA, GAPA and participated in tasks of social solidarity in general, with the help always of the Management and the Health Fund of the Bank of Greece.
She was regular collaborator of the monthly Bank magazine “Kyklos” under the supervision of Nassos Detzortzis, during a period of ten years approximately. She is a member of the National Society of the Greek Authors. She belongs to the editorial staff of the periodical editions of the magazine “Review of Samos” and the cultural committee of the Bank of Greece. As a university student she was engaged in the literary publications of newspapers and magazines, sych as “New Light”, “Horizons”, “Modern ways of thinking”, “New Estia” etc.
In competitions for novels, organized by he General Director of the Bank of Greece and academic Mr. Xenofon Zolotas, with the committee members of the Academy, Messrs Elias Venezis, Thanassis Petsa- lis-Diomidis and the poet Minas Dimakis, in the year 1964, she received a prize for her novel of “The best present” and in the year 1966 for her novels of “Love” and “Temperation”. In 1964, the Women’s Literary Company the presidency of Tatiana Stavrou and the great Greek poetess Melissanthi, Mrs. Karytinou received a prize for her work “Wings” which is a poetry for children. In 1965, her work “Course of time” received a prize from the poetic competition “Filadelfia”. In 1995, the Cultural Assosiation of young Artists together with the school of music “Dimitris Mitropoulos” awarded her a prize for her entire literary works.

She has presented at the floor Greek poets and writers, such as, Nikiforos Vretakos, Melissanthi, Elias Venezis, Thanassis Petsalis-Diomidis, Efi Elianou, Ourana Diomatari and others. Since many years ago she is organizing circles of communication with children and adults. She has organized school libraries in villages situated in the Western part of Macedonia, near the borders of the country.

KATRAKIS POTIS Atorney, Poet, Playwright and prose writer. Potis Katrakis was born in 1930 at Demonia Laconia in Greece. He is Director of the legal Service of the Municipality of Piraeus, a member of the National Association of Greek Authors, Athens Philology Association Parnassos and Piraeus Association. Previously he was vice-chairman of the Municipal Counsil of Piraeus-Vice president of the Piraeus Bar Association, Chairman of the Theatre Society of Piraeus. Maria Lampadaridou-Pothou is a poet, novelist and playwright, and has been honoured by the Academy of Athens and by other Literary Bodies. She was awarded a fellowship by the Government of French and followed theatrical studies in Sorbonne, Paris. There she met Samuel Beckett and had correspondence with him for many years. Books of hers have been translated into French, English and Swedish. In 1991 the Greek Ministry of Culture nominated her for the European prize. Her theatrical plays have been performed in Greece, Belgium, the United States and Canada. Also, she has translated into Greek several books from French and English among which plays of Samuell Beckett.

Lazarou Sofoklis was born in Pafos, Cyprus, in 1932. He studied literature at the School of Philosophy at the University of Athens. On his return, in 1955, he was appointed Secondary School teacher. Berween 1963-1965 he attended a post-graduate course at the Teachers’ College of Education in Athens. He worked in secondary schools for 37 years, most of which he served as a Headmaster. He got actively involved in the EOKA struggle 1955-1959 for the freedom of Cyprus. In September 1958, after being captured and tortured by British and Turkish intrerogators, he was imprisoned in the concentration camps of Polemi and Mammari, where he was held until the end of the Struggle in 1959. The torture he suffered there, is referred to in his prose work “Odos Eleftherias-Stasi Thanatou” (Liberty Street-Death Stop). Between 1970-1973, in collaboration with other poets, he published the “Literature and Arts Review”. It was at his initiative that the Society of Pafos Writers was founded. He was the first President of the Society. He was also a member of the Advisory Committee of Letters. He is a member of the National Society of Geek Authors and the National Society of Cypriot Writers. At present, he is on the Pafos Scool Committee. He is also on the publishing committee of the Council for the Historical Memory of the EOKA 1955-1959 Struggle.

Heleni Lygiani was born and raised in Lygia on the northen Peloponese; a Greek village full of orchards by the sea. It was this magical environment wich inspired her love of nature and compassion for the down-to-earth people. She is married and has two grown-up children.

MOIRAS, MICHALIS Michalis Moiras was born in Athens in 1951. At a very young age he emigrated to the United States where he lived and worked for 12 years -the first three of them as an illegal immigrand. Described by critics as one of Greece’s Foremost younger writers. Moiras’ short stories and poems have been presented on programs of the Greek national radio (ERT) and “The Voice Of Greece” in New York. He has been mentioned on English and Greek periodicals.

1951 Micahalis Moiras is born in Athens.
1966 Moiras sings-on as a seaman aboard a Greek Freighter, with “ports of call” in Europe, Asia and Affrica.
1967 Moiras disembarks ship illegally in San Francisco and travels to New York, where he works in various restaurants.
1974 Moiras begins work on the allegorical novel “The Unfortunates”, while living and working in New York.
1975 “The Unfortunates” is published by Athens Printing Company, New York.
1976 Begins work on the novel “The Sentimetalist”.
1977 Moiras returns to Greece.
1978 Moiras finishes “The Sentimentalist” and begins work on the collection of short stories “Waiting for Destiny”.
1979 “The Sentimentalist” and “Waiting for Destiny” (Orosimo Press) are published in Athens.
1982 The author writes the autobiographical novel “There, Where the Sun Dies” and the collection of poems “Tomorrow May Be Too Late” are published in Athens.

Mrs Philippou has also published a number of short stories and novels, outstanding for their physiolatric colour and the psychology of their chracters. They are the country people, kind-hearted and strong, who overcome the hardships of their daily life with a smile and a song. TRANSLATIONS From the English, she has translated into Greek a part of “Paedia” by the German philosopher Werner Jaeger, and “Travels and Adventures” by Joseph Walf. She has translated from the Greek into English translation of the “History of Cyprus” written by Dr. Constantinos Spyridakis.
A number of her translared extracts from the Englih classics have appeared in various Greek newspapers and literary magazines. Her poetry has been translated into English, German, French, Italian, Armenian, Serbo-croatian, Hebrit.
In addition, Mrs. Philippou’s talks on literature are regularly broadcast by the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, Nicosia. Mrs Philippou has been invited to speak by literary societes in Greece, Europe, Canada, U.S.A. She has also attended many seminars on poetry and literature abroad, as mentioned above.

POTAMITIS, DIMITRIS He was born in Cyprus. He attended the Dramatic School of the National Theatre where he studied theatre, and the University of Athens (Philologie).
Mr Potamitis made his acting debut in the ancient theater of Epidaurus, one of the oldest and largest theatres of classical Greece, as Eumylus, in Euripides tragedy “Alkestes”: the play was presented by the National Theatre of Greece. After his debut, Mr Potamitis appeared in many other important roles in plays by Rattigan, Strindberg, and modern Greek writers. From 1967 to 1970, Mr Potamitis was a leading actor for the “Proscenium Theater”, which was one of the best-known, fringe theatres

in Greece. Alexis Solomos, a great Greek director, presented Mr Potamitis in such well-known plays as Lorca’s “As If Five Years Past”, Mayakofsky’s “The Bed Bug” Moliere’s “Malade Imaginaire”, Aristophanes “Thesmoforiazouses”, Brecht’s “The Good Fellow of Setzuan” and Kopit’s “Oh, Dad, Poor Dad, Mama’s Hung You in the Closet and I’m Felling So Sad”.
In 1973 Dimitris Potamitis opened his own theatre “Research theatre of Athens” (Erevnas), an experimental theatre with a thrust stage, considered to be one of the best in Greece; his theatre is made up of two companies - one for adults and one for children. The theatre is located in Ano Ilissia in a beautifull neo-classic building and offers daily performances. For the last nineteen years, Mr Potamitis has starred in and directed over forty plays including Shaffer’s “Equus”, Pomerange’s “The Elephant Man”, Moliere’s “Scapen”, Bauomarche’s “Figaro”, Wilde’s “The Portrait of Dorian Gray”, Ostrofsky’s “The dairy of a Schoundler”, Calderon’s “Life is a Dream”, Kafka’s “Metamorphosis”, Burgess “The clockwork orange”, Bychner’s “Lents”, Shaffer’s “Five Finger Exercise”, and Ferstein’s “Torch Song Trilogy” which gave him “the best actor of the year award” for 1984; His play “Tales of Grandad Aristophanes” -an adaption based on five Aristophanian plays for children, has been produced in many children’s theatres around the world. A scene of the play is printed in the reading book of the 5th class in public primery schools of Greece.
In 1979 Mr Potamitis directed a “Collage” based on seven ancient tragedies of Aeschylus, Sophokles and Euripides. The Collage refers to the story of the House of Atreides. This play was performed in the ancient theatres of Heroid Atticus for the Athens Festival. This play as well as many of the “Erevnas” theater productions were filmed for Greek television. Mr. Potamitis has directed such plays as “My Fair Lady”, “Cabaret” and “Gone with the Wind” for other Greek theatre companies.
Dimitris Potamitis is also a writer and poet; six of his collections of poems have been published: “Symposium”, “The Migration of Angels”, “The ancient Saxophone”, “A tree wich thinks it’s a bird”, “The Alter Demetrios”, “The Core Poems”. He has also translated a lot of English and American plays in Greek. He has written six plays all of which have been produced in Athens theaters: “The gobbling of the little - Red - Ridding Hood”, “The last adventures of Adam and Eve”, “The leash of Socrates”, “The upsite down Tales”, “The Alibi”, “Tales of Grandad Aristophanes”.
In 1989 in collaboration with the National Theater of Cyprus, he played the main role in Euripides “Orestes” at the ancient theater in Epidavrus.
Mr Potamitis is a member of the “National Society of the Greek Writers”, the “International Organization for Children’s Theater” (ASITEZ), and the “International Center of Theatre”.
In 1995 he has directed and performed his own play “The Greek Amphibian” and Korneilles’ “Illusion”. He has also published three books: The translation of “Illusion”, his play “The Greek Amphibian” and a book with articles on theatre with the title “The local emigrant”.
PSARAFTI, LITSAAuthor of children’s books. Her works have won awards at Greek and international competitions. She is the winner of the Academy of Athens Prize (“The viper’s egg”) and the State Prize (“The smile of Ekati”). RODOPOULOU, SOULA She was born in Vrahati of Corinthia the 16/8 of 1935. She finished Primary and Secondary School. She graduated in the Pedagogical School “Arsakio” of Psycico as a teacher. She postgraduated, specialized in deaf children. She finished her career as School Advisor in Kalavrita.
She wrote since she was a child, and started publishing books in 1977. SINOU, KIRA : Kirou Sina was born in 1923 in Rostov, Russia. Her father was a Greek descend and her mother a Russian. When, during the Stalin repression the family were forced to leave the Soviet Union and come to Greece, Kira Sinou, then nine years of age, at first experienced many difficulties at school as she didn’t know any Greek, but soon she learned it well enough to write short stories which were published by the famous magazine for children “Diaplasis to Paidon” from which she received her first awards. She finished the German School, gained her Cambridge Cerificate of Proficiency in English, knows Russian and French and graduated from the State School of Tourist Guides. She was an employee of the Public Power Corporation where her work concerned children, students of evening technical schools. Possibly it was this contact which turned her interests towards literature for children. When she gave up her work with PPC during the dictatorship off the colonels, she started with literary translations and later began to write books of her own. She takes her subjects from palaeontology and prehistory, history and modern life and attemps to impart the information to her reader through action and adventure. She is member of several literary societies, works with magazines for children and is often called for jury service. For her books and translations she has received many prizes, in Greece and abroad. Kira Sinou has written 18 books and translated more than 80 books of classical literature as well as books for children. Several of her books have been translated in other languages.

STROUZA-MARGARITIS, STASA: Stasa Strouza-Margaritis was born and educated in Athens Greece. It is noticeable that her Greek Literature teacher in highscool published a book with all her compositions (1945).
Her first publication was the “Yellow Dress” (poetry) in 1967. A collection of poems with the title “Taste of Life” and the “Song of Songs” (ASMA ASMATON) followed in 1972. At the same time the newspaper “Embros” published on its first page her chronicles. In 1973 she was awarded the first prize of the “Kalokairinios” contest of the Literature Union “PARNASSOS” for her play “Aurore Dupen” which was also on the T.V. of ET2 in the series of Immortal Love Stories with the title “Chopin-Sande”.
In 1974 she was again awarded the first prize of the same “Kalokairinios” contest for her play “The Great Problem”.
In 1977 Stasa Strouza-Margariti published her rapsody “Walk towards the LIGHT” which was praised by the Neohellenic Literature and Byzantinology School of the Bochum University in Germany.
In 1978 she was hired by ET 1 to cooperate for the preparation of series based onn novels writen by Greek Writers. This cooperation with Hellenic Radio and Television Corp, has as a result the following theatrical series for the radio:
Women of the Bible (23 episodes) Walk towards Emmaous (7episods) One Night (a World War 11 chronicle).

At the same time Stasa Strouza-Margaritis created for ET 2 a theatrical series for the radio based on the life of Apostle Paul with the title “Paul the Apostle of the Nations” (43 episodes).
In 1986 she published a novel with the title “The Lady of Smyrna” which is dedicated to the memory of her mother and to all women of Smyrna.
Other works of Stasa Strouza-Margaritis are “Moment that are left” (poetry) and “In the Asteroid of the Twins” (novels).
The radio-series as well as “The Lady of Smyrna” have been on the radio all over the Globe for greek radio stations.

TSIKRITSI-KATSIANAKI, CHRYSOULA:Was born in Iraklion, Crete, in 1931. She studied Literature in the University of Athens as well as French Language and Literature in the French Institute. She served as a High School teacher for 29 years, was promoted Principal and resigned in 1984. She is specialized in Linguistics and is one of the principal pounders of the Onomastics Society of Greece.

VARVITSIOTIS, TAKIS:was born in 1916 in Thessaloniki and is one of the most significant poets of contemporary Greece. He has published twenty books of poetry. Many of his poems have been translated into English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Russian, Flemish, Romanian, Polish, Bulgarian and other languages, and are included in various European and American anthologies. He has also translated into Greek the work of several French, Spanish and Latin-American poets (Baudelaire, Mallarme, Rimbaud, Reverdy, Eluard, Saint-John Perse, Bosquet, Lorca, Alberti, Jimenez, Neruda, Huidobro). Honoured with the “Prize of the Twelve” almost equivalent to the Goncourt Prize in France and with the First Prize for Poetry of awarded for Poetry of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, Takis Varvitsiotis was then awarded the Poetry Prize from the Academy of Athens in 1978 and the First National Prize for Poetry in 1985 for his poetical work and his exceptional revues (“Nouvelle Revue Française”, Mercure de France”, Cahiers du Sud”, “Poetry”, “Equivalencias” etc).He visited the United States as an official guest at the invitation of the State Department in 1995. There he read his poems and lectured at the Universities of Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Buggalo, California and others. In 1979 he visited Romania as a guest of the Ministry of Culture. In 1980 he represented Greece at the Mondial Congress of Poets in Madrit, Corfu, Florence, Creta and at other international meetings (Belgrade, Tenerife, Luxembourg, Wûrzburg, Granada).In 1988 Takis Varvitsiotis was honoured in New York at the United Nations with the International Fernando Rielo Prize for mystical poetry, and in 1989 was awarded the title of Chevalier de l’ Ordre Français des Arts et des Letters.The most recent and highest award for this poetry; the Herder Prize, was presented to him in the University of Vienna, 1994.

ZARAVELAS, DIMITRIOS: Prose Writer
In 1988, his first narrative story on the lost Greek fatherlands of Pontos and Epirus, has been published with the title “Ston Icho tis Elpidas” (At the Sound of Hope), which in 1989 circulated on a second edition.
In 1991, the traveling story “Petrines Mnimes” (Store Memories), has been issued referring to Pontos, the lost Greek fatherland, which made a second edition in the same year.
In 1994 circulated his first novel “Ta Mystika tis Chouftas” (Palm Secrets).
In 1995 his historical and ethological story “Berbelouse” has been put in circulation dealing with the customs’ description of the village Longades close to Ioannina, Epirus (Gr.). In 1996 circulates the second edition of the book.
