SCRIP REMINDER
SCRIP puts your regular shopping dollars to work supporting your parish and school with over fifty retailers ….. grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, department stores, hardware stores, movie theaters, spas and more!
SCRIP cards are always available in the school office and after Mass twice per month. Next, the weekend of May 6th/7th and 20th/21st.
Bookkeeper Position Available
This is a part-time position, approximately 18-22 hours a week. The candidate must have organizational and management skills and possess good people skills. The responsibilities of the bookkeeper will be the recording of weekly collections and other cash receipts, processing payments, prepare payroll, assisting in the creation and maintenance of the budget, maintain required property, insurance records, and all accounts, prepare monthly financial reports for the Pastor and Finance Council and an annual report to the Diocese of Madison, attend Finance Council meetings when requested, and perform other duties as assigned. The candidate should have an associate degree in accounting and/or have at least 3 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience. He or she must also possess the ability of working with spreadsheets, databases, and word processing. A minimum of 2 references required. ************************************************************** "Whoever enters through me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture." Jesus uses the image of a gate today to help us understand how we are to relate to him. He is our path to "pasture," in other words, to the peace and prosperity that we long for. He shows us the way to find all that we need right there before us. Some people, however, may think that it's better to avoid the trouble of finding the gate and thus choose to enter another way instead. But Jesus says, "Whoever does not enter a sheepfold through the gate but climbs over elsewhere is a thief and a robber." Although this is all cast in the gentle terms of an analogy about sheep, the message is actually rather stern. Jesus is telling us that if we don't follow him, we are taking the wrong course of action. He is not suggesting a kind of relativistic principle that says, "Following me is one of many good options." No. He is telling us that in order to "have life and have it more abundantly," we must follow the path that goes by way of Christ. This isn't always the easiest path to follow. It might mean taking the long way around a situation instead of a shortcut. It might mean waiting a little while to get to that pasture instead of hopping the fence and finding it on our own terms. Insisting on using the gate may also make us look like fools to those around us. But to be truly faithful followers of Jesus, we need to trust that his way is the best way. We need to trust that, by letting him lead, we will ultimately end up in the best possible pasture. In our culture, it is becoming less and less popular to believe in one true religion, but as Christians we know that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

Come, experience Taize’ Prayer on Monday, May 8 at 7:00 PM. Our time together will offer a chance to “uncrowd” our hearts and minds and simply be in God’s presence. Come and bask in the light of candles, raise your voice in simple and prayerful songs, and listen in silence for God’s “still, small” voice. Taize’ Prayer is offered on the second Monday evening of each month, year-round.

OUR LADY OF GOOD HELP PILGRIMAGE
Over 150 years ago, Our Blessed Mother appeared to young Adele Brise twice in a small rural area near Champion, Wisconsin. Our Mother’s request was simple, “Gather the children in this wild country and teach them what they should know for salvation.” Adele devoted her life to doing just that. On the ground where she met Our Blessed Mother, there is now a shrine dedicated to Her appearance to Adele, The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help. The Shrine is the only Church-approved Marian apparition site in the United States. This summer you can make a pilgrimage to the Shrine along with many of our area parishioners, and see where the apparition took place, take part in Mass and Confession and learn the history of the apparition and Adele’s work to fulfill Our Blessed Mother’s request. Of course, there is a gift shop too! Our pilgrimage to Our Lady of Good help Shrine will take place June 29, 2017, and will cost $45, which includes transportation and *lunch. Anyone wishing to join the pilgrimage should call Colleen at 868-6386 to register and for further details. Deadline for registration and payment is June 1, 2017. HURRY! Space is limited!! *Lunch includes sandwich, chips, cookie & beverage. Sandwich choices are: Turkey/Cheddar wrap, Italian Sub or Turkey/Swiss on cranberry bread.

You don’t need to know Russian to appreciate the Orthodox
harmonies or the lively folk music of LYRA, the international-
ly acclaimed chorus, whose performance at Nativity of Mary
will be long remembered by all those who plan to attend.
So come! There is no charge for the concert, but a freewill
offering will be taken.
New Evangelization Summit May 12-13 2017
The Diocese of Madison is a host site for the 2017 New Evangelization Summit which will take place in Ottawa, Canada and streamed to our auditorium at Holy Name Heights (aka The Bishop O'Connor Center) 702 South High Point Road in Madison. Join us to answer God's call to renew our faith and ignite a passion in our hearts to share it with others. Speakers include Bishop Robert Barron, Peter Herbeck, Fr. Michael White, Tom Corcoran, Sr. Miriam Heidland, Patrick Sullivan, Meghann Baker and Michael Dopp. Cost is $45 which includes snacks and Saturday lunch. The ADULT CATHOLIC SPIRIT CLUB will meet at noon on
Wednesday, 10 May 2017, at St. John Vianney’s Marian Hall.
A potluck dinner will be served and you are asked to bring
a dish to share, along with your own table service. The
program begins at 12:45 pm and James Dumke, a local
retired attorney and history professor, will give a biograph-
ical presentation of Henry Palmer, Physician & Surgeon in
Janesville, Mid-19th Century Medicine & How That Relates
to the Civil War.” Due to our summer break, this will be the
last get-together until September and we look forward to a
good turnout for this interesting program. Blood pressure
screenings will be available from 11:30 am to 12 noon.

Our sister parish, the St. Francis Solanus Indian Mission and School is located about 250 miles north of Janesville. Any donations are appreciated, but school supplies and warm children’s clothing are most needed. Ladies! Join women of the diocese for an inspiring day of
learning, socializing and praying at the annual convention of the Madison Diocesan Council of Women (MDCCW) Wednesday, June 14th at St. Joseph Parish in Fort Atkinson. The convention theme is “Rise, Let Us Be on Our Way”. The convention’s keynote speaker is Fr. John Tourangeau, a nationally know priest from St. Norbert Abbey in DePere. He will speak about his after-life experience, following a heart attack. The author of “To Heaven & Back: The Journey of a Roman Catholic Preist”, he will also give the homily during the Liturgy. An afternoon “shareshop” entitled “We Are Called …” promises to be practical, inspirational, and entertaining. Also featured will be a silent auction and big ticket raffle, which provides funding for MDCCW’s charitable giving. Registration cost of $35 includes continental breakfast and lunch.
