Dear Members The Board of Directors has been opera ng with only 4 members since the resigna on of director Kym Hoffman. Since then the Board has been considering who might be the best person to fill the vacated posi on. With the lack of interest in a Board posi on which was made so apparent when only one person ran for the one open Board posi on this past June the Board felt their choices were limited. They felt someone with a background of volunteering and par cipa on would be the best choice. A er many hours of discussion, the Board is happy to announce that Jennifer Radke has been appointed to the NPMA Board of Directors to fill the vacated posi on. Jennifer has a history of commi ee par cipa on and is a former Board member who we feel will be an asset to our team. The Board is making progress toward repairing the pool deck surface deteriora ons. The plan is to complete this during fall/winter. Test sample areas have been applied to the tot pool deck. Please take a minute to look at them and give us your opinion via the sugges on box. Other things worth men oning include: The current fitness center equipment is past its prime and the cost of ongoing repairs is not sustainable. With the reserve study indica ng it is me to replace the equipment the Club commi ee has taken on the task to research new equipment. The Social commi ee held a marathon session to iden fy events for next summer, looks like there will be a lot going on in 2018. We look forward to hearing from you, your comments and feedback are important to us. Drop them in the comment box, email them to [email protected] or come to the Board of Directors mee ng and share them with us. For mee ng schedules and dates check the newsle er or call the office at 916‐925‐9200 See you around the Club!

CITY WATER CONSERVATION AND LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE
Did you hear, the Sacramento City Council voted to end the current emergency restrictions on watering and at the same time made long-term conservation a way of life by adopting a watering schedule for 2018 and beyond? How exciting?! Read more at https://www.sacramentocityexpress.com/2017/08/17/water-wisely-and-you-can-water-every-day It is no secret that with the hot weather and limited water resources over the past few years, not all landscaping was able to persevere through the drought and many plants, shrubs, lawns, and trees have died. Here’s what you should do if you are noticing your landscape is in need of a refresher. Dead lawn? Consider re-seeding or re-sodding your lawn. Fertilizer is always appreciated by your lawns and will promote healthy growth with minimal water. When fertilizer, be sure to choose the right kind of fertilizer, low in nitrogen and high in potassium, in order to aid your grass roots throughout the fall and winter months. Dead shrubbery? Either replace the shrubbery with the same shrub species OR submit a Home Improvement Application proposing a new look for your planter beds. Dead trees? First, you will need to identify whether the tree is a Street Tree or Accent Tree. Street Trees are those trees that are approximately 4 feet from the sidewalk and the closest tree(s) to the street. These are required trees, and will need to be replaced with a tree from the Association’s Approved Street Tree list if removed. If it is an Accent Tree, these are not mandatory but as always, additional greenery is encouraged when removing plants or trees in the front yards. If you are unsure, please contact management and you will be guided through the process. Please note, the removal or replacement of any tree requires prior approval from the Architectural Control Committee and a Home Improvement Application must be submitted for review. Interested in Water Efficient Landscaping? We think that’s a great idea! You don’t have to choose be-tween conservation and maintaining a beautiful landscape. Not only is it a smart move, as the practice of water conservation is likely here to stay, but with an outlined application process containing multiple re-sources and an experienced management team to help you along the way, we know you’ll be as excited as we are for this improvement! Did you know, for residents interested in replacing grass with river-friendly landscaping, the City offers a $1/per square foot rebate to help with the cost. Learn more at the above link. It is the Board’s desire that members begin to take action to restore the landscapes to their previous, or a new and improved condition; however, with the drought’s end finally here, we would like to remind homeowners that not only is landscaping maintenance encouraged and desired by your Board and your neighbors, it is also a requirement per your governing documents. Please be reminded that regular mowing, edging, weeding, lawn care and plant/tree replacement is required and if these items are not taken care of, your property will be at risk of being deemed in violation. We understand that some lots are in need of minor and major projects and for that reason management and your Board are more than willing to assist with allowing adequate time for project completion and guidance when it comes to landscape decisions. Please feel free to contact management with any questions, concerns, or for assistance with this process at [email protected].

Keep on, Keepin’ on!
Your team of Club Associates continues to promote a positive work environment and a commitment to providing excellent service members, their families and their guests. Through hard work and dedication, Cody Meikle has been promoted to Operations Coordinator. We also welcomed the new Club Events & Activities Manager, Allison Sertic, to the team. She is an amazing addition and comes with years of experi-ence in events, communication and food & beverage service. We have to say goodbye to some of our sea-sonal staff: Parker, Steven and Michaela. They did an absolutely amazing job and we are so very thankful to have had their help this season!
The Club The fire suppression system sprung another leak causing water damage in the Party Room and the hallway leading to the women’s restroom in the Lounge. Necessary repairs were made to stop the leak and management is currently getting a bid to replace the aging pipes. As you may have noticed, sections of the concrete around all three pools are eroding and are in need of repair. A portion of the children’s pool deck has been used as a test section for various overlays and designs. Management is working on obtaining bids to apply the overlay around all pool areas. All canister lights in the Lounge and Party Room have been replaced with LED lights that have a 10-year life-span so hopefully there won’t be any more outages for a while. The party rentals have been going great with almost every weekend in the summer months booked solid. Process improvements are currently being discussed to streamline the rental process and enhance the member experience. We are currently looking to hire a new fitness instructor to take over the Saturday Active Yoga classes and Zumba classes as needed. Stay tuned!

Fireworks Stand Worker Shot With BB ‐ 07/04 In the waning hours of July 4th, Paladin responded to a report that a juvenile male had shot a worker at a fireworks stand off of Natomas Blvd. The juvenile re‐portedly fled, along with several addi onal juveniles, away from the community. The responding Officers were unable to locate the group. Sacramento Police also responded and took a report. The vic m was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
This incident is an example of minors out and unsu‐pervised. Many day me burglaries have been found to be perpetrated by truant juveniles. When juveniles congregate late at night, they can o en engage in dis‐rup ve or destruc ve ac vi es. Because of these is‐sues, many states and municipali es have enacted truancy and curfew laws.
In the State of California, minors are not permi ed to be out without supervision typically during two peri‐ods of the day. The first period is during school hours, which are not relevant during summer vaca on, and the second is curfew. Curfew hours are between 10 pm and 6 am. With few excep ons, juveniles are not permi ed to be out in public without a parent or guardian during these periods.
If you see any minors out during school hours or a er 10 pm, without adult supervision, please contact Pala‐din at (916) 331‐3175, or the Sacramento Police De‐partment at (916) 956‐4492. If you see anyone ac ve‐ly commi ng a crime, please contact Sacramento Po‐lice via their emergency line at (916) 732‐0100.
