• Follow US 17 North for 43 miles: US 17 North becomes Savannah Highway

(This Scenic, but rural two lane road configuration can be dangerous, watch

your speed-as the posted speed limit on most stretches of the road is 50 mph.

Once you cross over the Edisto River, a four-lane, divided highway will begin).

• Continue to the right side of the page for further directions.

• Follow signs for Interstate 526 West (Savannah).

• Follow Interstate 526 for 6 miles to end of the Interstate. At the end, turn right and follow

the road towards Savannah Hwy/US 17 South.

• Continue on Savannah Highway/US 17 South for five miles, at the 5th traffic light, turn

left on Main Road. (Land mark - Burger King/BP Gas Station on the left).

• Continue on Main road for 15 miles. Main road will change names three times: Main to

Bohicket Road, Bohicket Roat turns into Betsy Kerrison Parkway. You will arrive at a

roundabout. Stay in the left lane as you enter the roundabout and proceed 3/4 ways around

then take the right on Kiawah Island Parkway.

• Once on the island, you will pass through the security gate (left lane).

• Villa Registration will be 2 miles past the front gate. Take the first right after Night Heron

Park (Sea Forest Drive). You will turn right on East Beach conference Center.• The Sanctuary will be 2 miles past the front gate. Take the second right after Night Heron

Park (Sea Forest Drive).

• The closest Airport to Kiawah Island Golf Resort is the Charleston International Airport (CHS). The resort is32 miles away and about 45 minutes from CHS.

• The resort offers custom transportation to and from the airport at a very competitive rate, call

843-768-5566 to contact the resort’s transportation services.

Table Top Dimensions:

• The table tops are 6 ft long with black spandex covering. The resort will provide: A skirt for the table, 2 chairs, a waste

basket and a power cord (Additional fee for power cord).

Table Top Setup:• Table tops can be setup between 12-4pm on Wednesday 10/3 at the East Beach Village Conference Center- in

Vanderhorst 1-4 and in the lobby. The table tops will be assigned with your company name.

Table Top Breakdown:• Exhibitors should have forms already printed with their account numbers on them, if not the Kiawah

Conference Concierge can provide the forms, sleeves, tape, and any other items needed. Packages will need to be left atyour exhibit tables and the Kiawah Set Up staff will pick them up at the conclusion and take them to the ShippingDepartment to send out the next business day.

Golf Outing:• Shotgun will start at 9 am. Please arrive at Cougar Point Golf course around 8 am for possible putting contest.

Club Rentals:

Mark Chandler is President of ACT Solutions Corp (Adaptive Cosmetic Technology Solutions), a formulation

design consultancy founded in 2012, serving the cosmetic and topical pharmaceutical industries, focusing on

Adaptive Aesthetic DesignTM, Advanced Emulsion SolutionsTM, and Formulating for EfficacyTM, with

formulation laboratories in Delaware and Ohio.

Mark has been in the industry for over 30 years, most recently serving as skin care applications manager for

Croda Inc. He has roles in Sales, Marketing, Strategic Planning and Acquisitions, and Research and

Development. Mark has taught courses for the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) on Cosmetic Formulation,

Cosmetic Raw Materials, Liquid Foundation Emulsions, Practical Basics and Theory in Emulsion Technology,

and Low Energy Emulsification for over 15 years. Mark also is a Research Instructor in the Cosmetic Science

and Formulation Design program at the University of Toledo – College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical

Sciences. He was awarded Fellow status by the SCC in 2014. Mark has presented technology throughout the

United States and in over a dozen other countries on five continents, published numerous articles, book

chapters, and has been granted 3 patents.

Dr. Howard EpsteinEMD

Dr. Howard Epstein is Director, Technical Services for EMD Performance Materials Corporation, an affiliate

of Merck, KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. He was a scholar in residence at the University of Cincinnati

department of dermatology and received his Ph.D. in Pharmacognasy from the Union Institute & University in

Cincinnati, Ohio during that time. Howard has authored chapters in various cosmetic technology textbooks

and a chapter in the Manual of Gender Dermatology. He was editor of the Journal of Cosmetic Science and

authored and edited various chapters in Harry’s Cosmeticology, ninth edition recently published.

Paolo Marchesi has a Degree in Chemistry from the University of Milan and a Master in Surface Science from

the Imperial College of London. Paolo gradually moved from R&D to Management in the first years of his

professional career, working with big multinational companies like Arkema, Elementis, Chromavis and Soliance

(now Givaudan). In August 2017 Paolo joined Deveraux Specialties as Chief Strategic Officer to manage the

teams through the incredible growth of the last few years. Also, he is charge of the Sales on the East Coast and

works with most of the vendors in Europe and in the World.

In his 20 years of experience in Personal Care, Paolo worked with commodities, specialty chemicals, active

ingredients from natural, synthetic and biotech sources.

Graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Benjamin Schwartz began his career in Personal

Care as a lab technician for The Estee Lauder Companies. After a move to the west coast, he spent 12 years as

an R&D Chemist, and then Manager, for contract manufacturer Columbia Cosmetics. Through this

experience he has gained an intimate knowledge of personal care chemistry and formulations. Now having

joined AAK, a global vegetable oil manufacturer, he brings this knowledge and insight to the world of plant-

based lipids and their applications for personal care and cosmetics.

Tiffany Quinn has obtained a BS in Molecular Bioscience and Biotechnology from Arizona State University,

an MS in Pharmaceutics with an emphasis in Cosmetic Science from the University of Cincinnati, as well as

an MSc in Regulatory Science from Johns Hopkins University. She began her career in cosmetics in 2005,

holding various positions in research, technical, and quality control. Tiffany has spent a majority of her career

in clinical research and product development of cosmetic and personal care products. Tiffany has contributed

to numerous technical publications and has been invited to present at multiple events within the industry.

Craig Weiss received a B.S. in biology for Monmouth College, prior to arriving at Consumer Product Testing

Co. Craig held technical positions at Del Laboratories, Norwich Eaton Pharmaceuticals (Proctor and Gamble)

and Roxane Laboratories.

Craig began his career with Consumer Product Testing Co., Inc. as the Vice President of the Analytical

Services Division. In 1993 Craig became a corporate Vice President and in 1999 he became the President of

Consumer Product Testing Co., Inc.

Craig is active in many trade organizations and is a member of ICMAD’s board of directors, serving as

treasurer and is the chairman of its technical, regulatory committee. Craig is also a member of the SCC and

PCPC serving on its Scientific Advisory Committee.

Jack Corley

Jack Corley is Chief Sales Officer of Custom Essence Inc. and serves as President of Custom Essence Inc.'s Natural

Fragrances Division. He is also a member of the Custom Essence, Inc. Senior Advisory Committee. Mr. Corley has

37 years’ experience in the Fragrance and Flavor Industry. Prior to joining Custom Essence in July 2014, Mr. Corley

was Vice-President and Director of Sales and Marketing for Symrise, managing the PureScent (formerly Trilogy

Fragrances) division and brand. Mr. Corley also spent 21 years with International Flavors and Fragrances. Custom

Essence is a mid-sized Fragrance creator and manufacturer based in Somerset, NJ and is the Industry leader in the

natural fragrance category.

Mr. Corley has been retained by some of the largest Fragrance and Flavor Companies in the world, advising them

on natural and organic product/market development, natural and organic ingredient sourcing and natural/organic

product formulation, labeling and regulatory issues.

His career during this time has included Senior Management positions in both Sales and Purchasing, with a

background heavily oriented towards Natural Ingredients. He has written numerous articles related to personal care

subjects over the years and is a featured speaker at Fragrance and Personal Care events and seminars as well. In

addition, he was a founding member of the Natural Product Association Personal Care and Home Care Standards

Committees; and remains a Charter Member and Joint Committee member of the NSF-305 task force. He recently

joined the Board of Directors for NOHBA (Natural & Organic Health and Beauty Alliance.) Additionally, Mr.

Corley is as an Adjunct Professor of Business at Monmouth University, in West Long Branch, NJ for the past 14

years. Mr. Corley holds both a BBA and an MBA from Baruch College, is a former Associate Professor of Business at St. John’s University, New York

Chris Koestline has over 12 years of experience in the cosmetics industry and is currently the sole Eco-Products

Certification Officer for ECOCERT based in the United States. Educated in London (England) with a double major

in Biochemistry & Physiology, Chris has become a leading regulatory expert for COSMOS and ECOCERT

certification standards. Heading the business development of the cosmetic department within the American

subsidiary, Chris enjoys establishing and maintaining relationships with clients in order to grow the natural and

organic market. As a qualified inspector for COSMOS, ECOCERT, ISO 22716 and the USDA National Organic

Program, Chris has performed more than 350 inspections for food producers, cosmetics manufacturers, and

farming operations.

Emily Harp Manoso

Emily Manoso is the Staff Counsel at the Personal Care Products Council where she assists the General Counsel on

regulatory and litigation matters. Her primary areas of focus include litigation, advertising and claim substantiation,

Over-the-Counter drug regulations, and other related topics. Emily also oversees the Sunscreen Task Force and

participates in the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) Working Group on sunscreens as part of

the U.S. delegation. In this capacity, she is familiar with many of the regulatory policies and challenges facing

sunscreen manufacturers and suppliers. Prior to joining the Council in 2016, Emily was an Assistant District

Attorney in Charlotte, North Carolina where she prosecuted dozens of cases and conducted several jury trials. She is

a graduate of the University of Virginia and the George Mason University School of Law.

Shannon Hess joined Burt’s Bees in 2010 to expand the brand’s commitment to responsible sourcing and supply

chain transparency. Shannon has nearly 20 years of experience in global natural cosmetics. Prior to joining Burt’s

Bees, Shannon spent a decade in R&D at Aveda, focused on formulation, raw material and fragrance ingredient

sourcing. She holds biology and chemistry degrees, and her journey in the natural and organic cosmetic industry

has taken her around the world, including living in Italy and Egypt.

Stacie Abraham, Senior Regulatory Specialist, UL Product Supply Chain Intelligence, has 33 years of combined

chemistry and diverse industry regulatory experience. Stacie is an expert in global chemical control regulations

including the U.S. Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), European REACH, and others. Her expertise also

includes the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling (GHS), toxicology data analysis,

applications of computational toxicology data, and regulatory compliance consulting and program design.

Stacie holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Pittsburgh.

Craig Ford is the National Sales Manager with Amcol Health & Beauty Solution’s, a Minerals Technologies

Company, where he is responsible for leading promotion and sales of specialized ingredients for the personal

care market. He is currently on the SCC Board of Directors representing Area I (Northeast) and is a member

the New England Chapter. In addition to a three year term as Area Director (’08-’10), Craig has held the

following positions within the NE Chapter: Chair (‘06/’12), Chair- Elect

(‘05/’11), Newsletter Editor (‘07/’15-’17).

Craig worked with Dow Chemical for 15 years in Technical Services, Technical Sales and Distribution

Management for Dow Home & Personal Care. Most recently, he managed the Home and Personal Care

business for Callahan Chemical, a regional distributor, focusing on new technologies and applications. He has

experience with a wide variety of technologies including delivery systems, rheology modifiers, sun care,

surfactants, emulsifiers, silicones, etc.

Mr. Ford holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Norwich University, Military College of

Vermont, and has done MBA coursework at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. After serving as a Naval

Flight Officer (Active and Reserve), he retired as a Commander with 23 years total service.

Sanam Fazilova

Active Concepts

Sanam Fazilova, Technical Marketing Associate of Active Concepts, LLC, received a Bachelor of Science in

Biochemistry from Queens University of Charlotte. Since 2012, Sanam worked with multiple cosmetic brands

as a makeup artist to promote cosmetic and skincare products that meet customers’ needs. She began her

career at Active Concepts in 2017. Sanam focuses on conceptualizing and executing strategies for brand

development and product development with collaboration from R&D while keeping up with industry trends

and materials to forecast consumer product needs and desires. Following her interest in skin and hair

chemistry, Sanam focuses on the mechanism of Natural Bivalent Cationic Peptides in hair damage prevention.

Giorgio Dell’Acqua, PhD, is the scientific director for Akott Evolution, an Italian multinational company specialized in

developing and selling active ingredients from natural origin. Dr Dell’Acqua graduated from The University of Rome, Italy

and worked for 15 years as an investigator in applied medical research in Universities such as Mount Sinai Medical School

in New York and Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. After his academic experience, he has spent the last 17 years as

an executive and cosmetic scientist in the personal care industry.

He is specialized in skin and hair care ingredients, finished product development and technical marketing. He has covered

multiple roles as a manager and director in different companies specialized in active ingredients and product development.

He has helped bring more than 200 successful active ingredients and finished products to market and has authored more

than 60 publications in medicine and cosmetic science. In the last 10 years he has been writing and lecturing on natural

cosmetic ingredients and helped sourcing, developing and bringing to market many natural ingredients.

He is a university professor in cosmetic science, an award winning speaker on natural ingredients and a regular columnist

on sustainability and the personal care industry. He is also the chair of the Scientific Affair Committee for the New York

Society of Cosmetic Chemists and its scientific blogger.

Nelson has been a research scientist in the personal care industry for 32 years. He worked for 2 years at Unilever,

where he analyzed consumer products such as Promise margarine. For 11 years at Westwood Chemical he helped

commercialize new antiperspirant and deodorant raw materials. For 2 years he worked on improving Ladies

Choice A/P and Nair depilatories, two feminine brands that were owned by Carter Wallace. For the past 17 years,

he helped to grow Summer’s Eve, one of the largest feminine hygiene brands. He has 8 patents, 2 patents pending,

on topics related to personal care products.

Anna Howe is Applied Technology Manager, North America, for the Personal Care business of Evonik

Corporation at the new Business & Innovation Center in Richmond, Virginia. Her responsibilities include

global product development as well as leading regional customer projects.

Ms. Howe has over 25 years of experience in the cosmetic industry. Prior to joining Evonik, she held positions

of increasing responsibility at Inolex Chemical Company, Rhône-Poulenc (Rhodia) and Alcolac Chemical
