Two model projects from Catalonia

NATURE WEEK

It was held from May 27 to June 5.

It is a campaign to aim and promote activities all over Catalonia to raise public awareness of the need to preserve nature and territory.

What kind of project is it?

This year had the goal to recover 50 natural fountains.

It has been part of the European Sustainable Development Week (ESDW).

Which activities have been done?

A BIOBLITZ took place at the “Parc Ecohistòric al Pont del Diable in Tarragona”.

Mobile app inaturalisthas compiled 200 observations during NATURE WEEK.

NATURE WEEK

Which activities have been done?Record at the mobile app 1000 punts d’aigua (1.000 water points) the 50 natural fountains that have been recovered during NATURE WEEK.

It is a collaborative project, since different Catalan environmental NGO are involved.

It is a supplementary project because complements another existing projects.

The numbers of the week

All over Catalonia 230 activities took place from 175 different organizations.

With the claim “VIU LA TERRA!”(take part of it!) more than 15.000 people participated in the activities that have been organized to get consciousness of the importanceof protecting our natural heritage.

A solidary gift 2.0

A non profit charity organization created an identity symbol for NATURE WEEK.

All participants in the activities has received a green bracelet with the inscription of the twitter hashtag #setmananatura

In Catalonia there are more than 200 environmental NGO but most of them are very small and only work in local projects.

They are only focused on their immediate surroundings sostaying disconnected from the virtual world.

Promote cooperation of citizens with Catalan environmental NGO, whether as being voluntaries, associating to them or making a monetary donation

With this tool we have visualized the small Catalan environmental NGO that until now people do not know about their existence.
