Types of SAP BO Licensing• Named User License (NUL)

– Assigned to a single named user

– User may sign-on to multiple products and multiple Test/Dev environments

– No restriction in hardware configuration (multiple servers, CPU’s, Cores etc.)

Types of SAP BO Licensing• CPU Licensing (CPU)

– Based on number of CPU’s and CPU Cores on the servers running the BO Application

• First core on CPU = 1 CPU License

• Additional cores = 0.5 CPU License

– Unlimited Users

– Virtual Machine Environments

• Will consider underlying hardware if not allocated

Types of SAP BO Licensing• CPU Licensing (CPU) Examples

– 2 x Dual Core

• 2 x (1 First Core + 0.5 x 1 Other Core) = 3 CPU

– 2 x Quad Core

• 2 x (1 First Core + 0.5 x 3 Other Core) = 5 CPU

– 1 x Quad Core

• 1 x (1 First Core + 0.5 x 3 Other Core) = 2.5 CPU = 3 CPU

– 4 x Octa Core

• 4 x (1 First Core + 0.5 x 7 Other Core) = 18 CPU

Types of SAP BO Licensing• Concurrent Access License (CAL)

– A single user license that can be shared between any number of users but only one can be logged on at any point in time

– License restricted to single product sign-on

– No restriction in hardware configuration (multiple servers, CPU’s, Cores etc.)

Types of SAP BO Licensing• OEM License (OEM)

– Provided through a third party and bundled with that third party application

– License restricted to use with the third party application only

– Third Party will determine type of license (CPU, NUL, CAL etc.)

Types of SAP BO Licensing• Viewer License (Xcelsius)

– Any deployment of Xcelsius dashboards where dashboard built with Xcelsius Enterprise (connected and not connected to BOE) requires Viewer licenses for all users viewing the dashboard

– Paper license (no server product) unless using QaaWS, Live Office or BO XI 4.x

BOE Enterprise• Offers the following Licensing

– CPU

– NUL

– Should not be mixed (but exceptions have occurred in the past)

– Should not be capped (but exceptions have occurred in the past)

BOE EDGE and CR Server• Offers the following Licensing

– Capped limits (50 CAL + 100 NUL per server)

– Restricted to a single server per instance but Unlimited CPU/Cores on each server

– Business Objects Certified and works with BO5.x, 6.x, XI R2, XI 3 and XI 4 and enables you to have a full control of your licenses

• Total named/simultaneous/active/dormant users.

• Total users allowed to logon to N application.

• Scans all kind of allowed/denied security commands.
