NAX December Newsletter NAX Alumni Spotlight: This month’s NAX Alumni Spotlight player is Elizabeth Lang of the University of Calgary Dinos. Elizabeth spent three seasons with the NAX Female Prep team recording 47 points in 53 career regular season and playoff games, including 28 points in 21 games in the 2017/18 season. Now in her second season with the Dinos, Elizabeth has 10 goals and 17 points in 18 games, both tops on her team. Her 10 goals have her tied for third among USports players, while her 17 points have her tied for eighth. Around the Rink: The Northern Alberta Xtreme are looking to expand our athletic family and add a baseball and golf program. If you or anyone you know is interested in joining the program either as a coach or student-athlete please contact NAX Program Director Jason Stewart. NAX Evaluation Camp registration for next season has officially opened. Dates are as follows: Bantam – April 10-12, 2020 Midget – May 8-10, 2020 Female Prep please contact Jason Stewart Dynamic Hockey Development summer 2020 camps are now available for registration. NAX December Newsletter NAX Alumni Spotlight: This month’s NAX Alumni Spotlight player is Elizabeth Lang of the University of Calgary Dinos. Elizabeth spent three seasons with the NAX Female Prep team recording 47 points in 53 career regular season and playoff games, including 28 points in 21 games in the 2017/18 season. Now in her second season with the Dinos, Elizabeth has 10 goals and 17 points in 18 games, both tops on her team. 98 former NAX players currently find themselves on junior or university/college rosters this season with the following breakdown:

• 35 AJHL • 17 WHL • 11 U Sports • 11 ACAC • 5 CapJHL • 3 ACHA/SJHL • 2 AJFHL/MJHL/MJAHL • 1 BCHL/KIJHL/NOJHL/NWJHL/VIHHL/NCAA Div 1/NCAA Div 3

The following current and former NAX players made their junior debuts in December:

• Brett Hyland – Brandon Wheatkings/WHL (Previously made AJHL debut this season) • Caleb Wyrostok – Swift Current Broncos/WHL • Dylan Leslie – Whitecourt Wolverines/AJHL • Logan Lorenz - Spruce Grove Saints/AJHL • Ross Roloson - Spruce Grove Saints/AJHL • Tyler Palmer – Spruce Grove Saints/AJHL • Warren Marcotte - Whitecourt Wolverines/AJHL

In his WHL debut Caleb Wyrostok scored his first career WHL goal and earned WHL Highlight of the Night on December 11. Dylan Leslie and Warren Marcotte both scored their first career AJHL goals in the same game on December 8 against the Drayton Valley Thunder. Coming on in relief Tyler Palmer earned his first AJHL win on December 4. Former Elite 15s student-athlete and current Grande Prairie Storm forward Nathan Morgan has officially committed to Union College. Luke Prokop has been selected to play in the 2020 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. The Calgary Hitmen defenseman has 12 points in 37 games this season. Connor McClennon of the Winnipeg Ice was named the WHL second star of the night on December 30 as well as the Player of the Week on January 6. McClennon has been on a tear offensively lately with 14 points in his last 6 games, bringing his season total to 47 points in 39 games this season. Ethan Leyer of the Whitecourt Wolverines was named the December KalTire Wolverines player of the month. In his second AJHL season, the 17 year old currently has 27 points in 34 games. The Bantam Prep, Female Prep and Midget Prep teams all volunteered with the Devon Christmas Elves, packing and organizing food for families in need.

Carter Savoie, Ethan Edwards and Michael Benning have all been selected to play for Team West at the CJHL Top Prospects game. The trio recently competed for Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge. NAX’s own Allen York joined the trio as the teams Goaltender Coach.

Bantam Prep The Bantam Preps currently sit in fourth place with a record of 9W-3L-3OTW-2OTL. December practices saw the team focus on neutral zone play and special teams. January will see the Bantam Prep team host the second annual Western Canadian Crown Elite Bantam Invitational from January 16-19, 2020 at the River Cree Twin Arenas. Elite 15s: The Elite 15s hosted a successful showcase, winning all three of their games to wrap up their 2019. The team currently sits in first place with a record of 20W-5L-1OTW-0OTL and a league best plus 62 goal differential. With just two weeks of practice in December the team focused on making quick and smart plays with the puck and puck movement specific to breakouts and neutral zone play.

On December 19 the Elite 15s volunteered at the St Albert Community and Village Food Bank,

organizing and making 200 boxes of food.

Midget Prep: The Midget Preps played four games in December, hosting a showcase and playing their annual mid-day game at the Dale Fisher Arena in front of John Maland High School students and teachers on December 20. The team currently sits in first place with a record of 19W-1L-1OTW-0OTL despite losing multiple players to either injury or junior for extended periods of time.
