Problem

• IIIT claims to be a moderate Muslim enclave of academia and a center for espousing Interfaith.

• Nazareth College did not check to verify the truth and validity of IIIT‟s claim, and pursued receipt of $500,000.

▫ According to Dr. Shafiq‟s CV both he and Dr. Braveman actively pursued this funding.

Page 3: Naz and IIIT

What is moderate Islam?

• Is it a Muslim who is more secular and less Islamic?

▫ No, Muslims do not like the term secular to them it means godless.

Page 4: Naz and IIIT

What is moderate Islam?

• Do moderate Muslims peddle a softer form of Islam?▫ Are they willing to co-exist peacefully with

peoples of other faiths? Yes, moderate Muslims exist who neither

commit acts of violence nor encourage others to do so. Yes, moderates practice Itjihad rather than

jihad. Itjihad is settlement. The creation of Islamic

enclaves/communities then pushing for Islamic laws to be accepted and used.

What is moderate Islam?

• Do moderate Muslims peddle a softer form of Islam?

▫ Are they comfortable with democracy and the separation of politics and religion?

Moderate Muslims believe in Shariahlaw. Under Shariah democracy does not exist, and there is no separation of politics and religion.

What is the Muslim Brotherhood?

• Formed in 1928 by Hasaam Al- Banna• Its stated purpose is still:

▫ Islam must dominate and not be dominated. ▫ The Restoration of the lost caliphate - i'adat al Khalifa al Mafqudah - is

the chief immediate political goal of the Islamist movement.▫ Islam is currently inferior to the West because it deserted its roots. It will

triumph by returning to its pristine form. ▫ Social revolution and anti-colonial struggle are an integral and major

part of the mission of the Islamic revival.▫ Violent Jihad is a central tenet of Islam and martyrdom in the cause of

Allah is highly valued. Violent Jihad is the greater Jihad, while inner struggle for moral purity is the lesser Jihad.

▫ Islam must aim to take over the entire world and assert its superiority through violent Jihad,

▫ Western civilization is doomed by its decadence and Jewish influence. ▫ Ideas such as democracy and human rights are products of Jewish

influence and Western decadence. Society must be ruled by God and not men.

▫ The Jews are particularly vile enemies of Islam. Israel is to be opposed because it is a foreign western implant.

Page 10: Naz and IIIT

What is the Muslim Brotherhood doing

today?

• The current stated purpose for Muslims in America according to the Muslim Brotherhood is civilization jihad.

▫ Muslim Brother Explanatory Memo located through an implemented search warrant:

• According to this memo IIIT is part of the MB

Document found through federal search warrant in 2002.

The Hamas is the “political

extension” of the

Muslim Brotherhood

• Hamas was created shortly before the December 1987 Intifada as a more militant, Palestinian offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood, a religious, political and social movement founded in Egypt and dedicated to the gradual victory of Islam.

• Its virulent hatred of Jews and Judaism is deeply rooted in the anti-Semitic writings of Muslim Brotherhood theologians.

• Hamas means zeal. It is an acronym for Harakatal-Muqawima al-Islamiyya, Islamic Resistance Movement/ It was created as the armed wing of the religious revivalist Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan al-Muslimin) in Gaza, between 1987 and 1988.

Al Qaeuda and Osama Bin Laden

• 1998 ABC News went to IIIT to make contact with Tarik Abdulmelik Hamdi, who worked as a publisher for IIIT, to get an interview with Bin Laden. ABC was able to get the interview and Hamdi was able to deliver a Sat phone battery pack that according to federal agents was used three months later in the bombing of American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. ▫ Affidavit of David Kane, March 13, 2002.

• Those bombings killed about 220 people and wounded 4,000.

IIIT Leadership is still bragging about

having set up ways to fund terrorist

groups• IIIT leadership had an intricate role in creating

the SAFA Trust and SAAR Group. Both groups were determined to have been funding tools for various terrorist groups.

• IIIT‟s current Vice-President, Dr. Jamal Barzinji upon receiving an award from ISNA, was introduced as having been a founder of both SAAR and SAFA.

IIIT Publications promote violence

against non-Muslims

In examining the topic of bias, “The Verse of the Sword,” (ayah al-sayf) is examined. So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

According to page 29, “the following versus were considered abrogated:

• forgive them for God loves those who do good to people

• repel evil with that which is best• so patiently persevere• do not argue with the People of the

Book except with means that are best

• and (say:) You have your religion and I have my religion.’

[Q]: How can Islam be an ethical way of life if it encourages terrorism?

An act of terrorism is that in which “innocent people (civilians or non-civilians) are harmed in a way that goes against the principles of justice and human dignity.

Page 20: Naz and IIIT

• The average person will not catch what is happening here. They will not ask the question:▫ “Who are the innocent

according to Islam?” They do not see this is a

secret statement of approval.

▫ The Innocence question answered

If terrorism is an action against the

innocent, Who are

the innocent?• According to Islam

<start>….”I just wonder why you won‟t condemn it when your own leader Omar Bakri said quite simply, „ I condemn the killing of innocent people,‟ on the 20th of July. Why won‟t you say what he said?”

Transcript of You Tube video of British Show Hard Talk interview with British Mullah Mr. AnjumChaudri:

Chaudri: “No, but at the end of the day, when we say innocent people we mean Muslims. As far as normal people are concerned, they have not accepted Islam. As far as we are concerned, that is a crime against God.

Click on start arrow in You Tube video.

><interruption>“Let me be clear about what you are saying. It‟s very important. You are saying only Muslims can count as innocent people.

Chaudri: “As far as Muslims are concerned your innocent if you…if you are a Muslim, then you are innocent in the eyes of God. If you are non-muslim then you are guilty of not-believing in God.

“Your guilty. Are you seriously suggesting that everybody on those two trains and on that bus in London on July the 7th was in some way a legitimate target?”

Chaudri: “you don‟t allow me to answer the question fully you are never going to get to the bottom of it. Let me begin by saying as a Muslim you must have allegiance where the shariah says that we have allegiance. You must hate and love for the sake of Allah.

The shariah say you must praise and <unintelligible>… for what. So. I‟m a muslim I must support my Muslim brother and sister whether or not, <unintelligible>…..I must have allegiance with them. I must cooperate with them. I must love them. Similarly on the other hand, I must have hatred towards everything which is not Islam.

Conclusion:

• In order for Nazareth College to maintain its academic integrity it must end its relationship with the International Institute of Islamic Thought immediately, or it risks being accused of condoning what western society defines as terrorist action by Muslims.
