Coal Trans 2015

Mrs. Amrita Bhattacharya attended the Coal Trans 2015 seminar in New Delhi where the coal sector develop-

ments was discussed between different related companies. It was clear from the discussion that coal import is ex-

pected to rise by at least 2 % in this fiscal year. Hence it is important to have a coal regulatory body examining these

operations. Jindal, Adani NTPC to increase their coal consumption. Later in the coming months it was seen that Jindal

decided to stop buying metallurgical coal from Australia.

China being the most promising supplier of metcoke in India the major imports directed towards China. New coal pro-

ducing countries also took part in the discussion like Nigeria, Mongolia. There were ship owners who took part in the

discussion as well to understand their allocation of he vessels in this sector for bulk cargo movements. The Coal Trans

gave a good overview on the imports and the logistics part that needs to be taken care in the following months to

avoid the loopholes in between and meet the high demand of coal in India.
