Development process
Role of the QDT
Agree general timelines including provisional validation/launch dates
Determine the strategy for initial consultation with key stakeholders: employers, HEIs, Skills Councils, professional bodies, students
Agree main subject areas (with associated SCQF levels) to include in structure
Decide on the Core Skill profile for the award and a strategy for the development of Core Skills
Manage the writing process for revised/new Units Prepare and review the validation proposal document Present the case for the group award at the validation
event Participate in the launch of the group award
Selecting the QDT
Individual Represent a centre that
intends to offer the award(s) Have expert knowledge in at
least one aspect of the subject area
Be appropriately experienced in terms of teaching and/or industrial experience
Possess good inter-personal skills including enthusiasm, commitment and the ability to work co-operatively within a team
Have previous experience of curriculum development particularly unit writing and/or qualification development
Team Include representation of key
external stakeholders, including national organisations (such as the Sector Skills Council)
Include representatives from high uptake centres
Have an appropriate demographic composition, including gender balance and a mix of geographical locations
Have an appropriate balance between experience and “new blood”, including an appropriate mix of promoted and unpromoted staff, providing an opportunity for first-time participation
