Michael Good A Discussion on the

Principles of Anticlastic Raising

Thursday, November 6, at 6:00 pm

In conjunction with Michael Good’s weekend workshop ”Principles of Anticlastic Raising,” NC State students and the public alike are invited to attend this free evening presentation. Anticlastic forming was first discovered over three thousand years ago in late bronze age

Ireland. The technology was then lost after the Celtic Invasions and its foundation rediscovered in the early 1970’s by Finnish metalsmith Heikki Seppa. Master goldsmith Michael Good, who met Heikki in 1977, spent the next 37 years developing and teaching the principles of this fluid and sculptural technique. In his talk, Michael will demystify the process discussing the history of anticlastic raising from a topographical and philosophical point of view, as well as the technical implications as they are related to non-definitive movement. Whether a jeweler, metalsmith, or new generation techno-maker, come and join us for what promises to be an informative presentation of this historically honored technology. Visit Michael’s website: michaelgood.com.
