Why is the NCLB Act

important?

•Affects everyone across the U.S.

•4 Main points to help better the education system

• A federal law• President George W. Bush: 2001•Very controversial issue in Education

• Standards-based education reform– Math– Reading

• NCLB requires that 100% of students in a school must reach the same set of statestandards by the year 2014.

• Stronger accountability for results• More freedom for the states and communities• Proven education methods• More choices for parents

• Positives:–Better education for all–Students working harder– Closing the achievement gap
