Ask an Immigration Attorney: The Postdoc Office has partnered withimmigration attorney Thomas Arkell, a partnerwith Dunn Law Firm, LLP in Chicago. He willgraciously answer up to two immigration lawquestions per month for free. Any complete andappropriate questions received before the 20thof each month will be included for a monthlydrawing. Two randomly selected questions willbe passed to Mr. Arkell's office by the end ofthe month. If you would like to submit a question, you mustsend it to Valli Sarveswaran as well as astatement giving us permission to pass thequestion and your email address to Mr. Arkell'soffice, who will then contact you directly with

The first PPC will kick off in January with Dr.Sarah Lukens, a former ND postdoc now workingas a Data Scientist at Meridium (GE Digital).
Sarah Lukens is aData Scientist atGE Digital. Her roleinvolves analyzingasset maintenancedata and creatingstatistical modelsthat support assetperformancemanagement (APM)work processes,which involvescomponents fromnatural languageprocessing,machine learning,
and reliability engineering. She completed herPh.D. in mathematics in 2010 from TulaneUniversity with focus on scientific computing andnumerical analysis with applications in fluid-structure interaction problems in mathematicalbiology. Prior to joining Meridium in 2014, sheconducted post-doctoral research at the Universityof Pittsburgh and the University of Notre Damebuilding data-driven computational modelsforecasting infectious disease spread and control.
