The members met with the High-Commissioner of Canada. Kamal Uddin, Trade Commissioner at High Commission of Canada in Bangladesh, was present during the meeng. Mr. Kamal talked about the areas where Canada can work with Bangladesh. e-CAB members informed the commission of their acvies and various sectors related with e-Commerce. Canadian High Commission showed keen interest about the e-Commerce sector of Bangladesh. He inquired of the scope for foreign companies to work with local e-Commerce companies, payment gateway company services and payment security. Mohammad Abdul Haque, e-CAB Finance Secretary, Shezan Shams, Joint Secretary; and Nasima Akter Nisha, Director (Corporate Affairs) were present in the meeng. e -CAB Mirpur Meet Up took place at Blue Lagoon restaurant in Mirpur. 70 e-CAB members parcipated in the event. e-CAB President Razib Ahmed and Director Communicaons Md. Afzal Hossain aended the event. Aſter lunch, the members discussed about problems and how they can work together to solve them. The main goal of organizing e-CAB meet up is to encourage networking among the members and explore new business opportunies as well as solving different issues. Ambassador Johan Frisell said, “Bangladesh is currently observing rapid economic growth and e-Commerce is a highly potenal sector of Bangladesh. Sweden has a well-established e-Commerce sector. Our government is ready to provide necessary assistance in the development of the e-Commerce sector. Rezwanul Haque Jami said, “ Aſter 2009, Bangladeshi e-Commerce sector grew at a rapid pace. However, the sector has many issues that need to be addressed as quickly as possible. At e-CAB, we are working to solve these issues and create a prosperous e-Commerce sector. Hence, the ICT Division, gave us the responsibility to draſt an e-Commerce Policy. We already did it. e-CAB recently organized a meet up at the Dhanmondi Kutumbari Restaurant on June 3, 2016 (Friday). Members of the e-CAB Executive Committee as well

as regular members attended the meet up. The main goal behind organizing such meet ups is to encourage networking among members and explore new business opportunities in e-Commerce. At the event, members share their thoughts and ideas with each other. More than fifty members attended the Dhanmondi meet-up. Significant number of female members also attended the event. Expressing their satisfaction about the event, members said that they want to see more such events in future. e-CAB President Razib Ahmed, General Secretary Md. Abdul Wahed Tomal and Director (Communication) Md. Afzal Hossain attended the meet up.

Pathik conducted the workshop. Speakers at the workshop talked about the potential of content to attract buyers and creating new customers.

The workshop was open for all. Aside from e-CAB members, students and job-holders also attended the workshop.

On May 21, 2016 e-CAB Uttara meet up was organized at the Super 7 Fast Food & Restaurant in Uttara. Braving the rainy weather, many e-Commerce

members attended the event. The goal behind organizing such meet ups on regular basis is to encourage networking among the members and explore new opportunities. For four hours, e-CAB members discussed with each other and shared their thoughts and ideas on e-Commerce. They also discussed about various problems and determine solutions. e-CAB President Razib Ahmed, General Secretary Md. Abdul Wahed Tomal and Director (Communication) Md. Afzal Hossain attended the meet up.

e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) announced

its Content Standing Committee last Monday (June 6, 2016). Content is very important for the growth of e-Commerce and F-Commerce. Members of the content standing committee would conduct research on F-Commerce, identifying current issues and work on the solutions,

generate ideas, create contents for blogs, and publish journals.

e-CAB members and officials had a discussion on June 3, 2016. At the meeting, they took following decisions-

• Create knowledge-based content-text, image, audio and video.

• Create contents on e-Commerce related subjects that have not

been covered yet. • Create knowledge-based contents

for business persons and organize training for the entrepreneurs.

• Identify the challenges of e-Commerce and work on developing solutions and create serial contents on them.

• Spread awareness and develop trust and reliability among the

buyers by creating better contents on Bangladeshi e-Commerce sector.

Five members of the committee are as follows: Omer Sharif- President, Saied Rahaman- Vice President, Naim Zaman-Member and Abdullah Al Mehedi-Member, Sadid Khondoker Prince-Member.

Recently, members of the e-CAB Executive Committee attended

a meeting with VISA Inc. The USA-based multinational financial services corporation provided electronic fund transfer services, machineries and software services around the world. VISA Debit cards and Credit cards are used by people all over the world. The officials talked about online payment, current condition of e-Commerce in Bangladesh. VISA

showed interest to work with e-CAB to improve the e-Commerce sector of Bangladesh. Bharat Anuj, Director- Consumer Debit Products & Contactless Solutions, India & South Asia at Visa, and Amitjal Sohane were present in the meeting. e-CAB President Razib Ahmed, Vice-President Rezwanul Haque Jami and Joint Secretary Shezan Shams were present in the meeting. Ashish Chakraborty, General Manager SSL Wireless arranged the meeting.

We are going to organize more such policy dialogues in future with different stakeholders and take their feedbacks on e-Commerce policy. We would include their feedbacks and make more changes and create an up-to-date e-Commerce Policy.” He said that e-CAB focused on various topics such as e-security, delivery, logistics, payment security, fraud, etc in the draft. and e-CAB President Razib Ahmed spoke at the session. e-CAB Director (Corporate Affairs), Shezan Shams conducted the session. The speakers urged e-CAB and ICT Division to talk with other stakeholders and include their recommendations in the e-Commerce Policy. They also said that the e-Commerce Policy should also give priority on protecting consumer trust and securing the interest of local e-Commerce companies. In order to create awareness about e-Commerce among young people, the speakers suggested that a chapter on e-Commerce should be included in the Computer Book at secondary or higher-secondary level. In addition, Universities and higher educational institutions should start offering majors in e-Commerce.

BCC & e-CAB Pre-Budget Discussion

e-CAB Executive Committee Members met with Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC)Executive Director S M Ashraful Islam at a pre-budget discussion. Leaders of Internet Service Provider Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) were also present at the meeting. e-CAB forwarded following proposals at the meeting• Tax exemption on e-Commerce till 2025. • Keep e-Commerce trade license fee below Tk.3,000. • Keep online transaction charge within 1% • VAT exemption on online transaction till 2025.

ICT Ministry accepted all the proposals and assured e-CAB leaders that it would forward the proposals to Finance ministry. e-CAB President Razib Ahmed, Finance Secretary Mohammad Abdul Haque, Director (Communication) Md. Afzal Hossain, and Director (Corporate Affairs) Nasima Akter Nisha were present at the meeting.

e-CAB Marketing Standing Committee organized a day long workshop at the Dhanmondi EMK Center on May 29, 2016. The goal of the workshop was to enrich the knowledge-base of the e-Commerce entrepreneurs of Bangladesh.

The country’s top Online Payment Gateway SSLCOMMERZ’s ‘SSLCOMMERZ Merchant Meet Up 20016’ has been held yesterday, Tuesday, June 21, 2016. The program took place in the capital’s RAOWA Convention Center with the participation of companies associated with SSLCOMMERZ. Mr. Sayeeful Islam, the Managing Director of SSLCOMMERZ was present on this occasion.

The General Manager, Mr. Ashish Chakraborty, said,“The E-commerce sector in our country is progressing quite well at present. The service generally requires more reliably is the Online Payment service in this regard. The online payment service provider SSLCOMMERZ is working great in this field”.

Nazmus Saaqeb (Head of E-Commerce Services) described 4 upcoming services of SSLCOMMERZ to the merchants by delivering a Presentation. Besides, another two new services named ‘EMI’ and ‘Quick Pay’ was introduced with illustration

on this occasion. At the end of

the program an open discussion session was held among the SSLCOMMERZ merchants, while they gave a variety of comments and expressed their satisfaction with the services of SSLCOMMERZ.

Merchants’ various questions and queries about SSLCOMMERZ were jointly answered by Shahzada Redwan (Chief Technical Officer), Iftekhar Alam Ishaque (Head of Engineering) and Mahbub Ur Rashid Khan (Manager E-Business).

Nazmus Saaqeb said, “SSLCOMMERZ are determined to provide improved online payment services going beyond the criteria of general E-commerce. We want to give our merchants the highest service and make them familiar with IT facilities. SSLCOMMERZ are already involved in nearly 83 percent of online payment service of Bangladesh”.

SSLCOMMERZ was launched in 2010. Presently the company is providing services to more than 900 merchants around the country.
