HThe Olives, Hubert and Catherine, affectionatelyknown as Cateen, moved to Piedmont Crossing fromnearby Lexington, NC. Following in his late father’sfootsteps, Hubert served the citizens of DavidsonCounty as an attorney and District Court Judge formany years. Cateen worked as a school teacher prior

to becoming a homemaker to care for the couple’s two children.Hubert put the gavel away to retire early so that he and Cateen couldtravel. Their travels took them all over the map, but when it came timeto look for a retirement community, the Olives wanted to be nowhereelse but Davidson County.

When caring for their home began tooverwhelm Hubert and Cateen, theyknew something had to change. “Therewas always yardwork to be done, gutters to be cleaned, and regular homemaintenance seemed to never end,”shared Hubert. “We knew early on thatwe wanted to be at Piedmont Crossing. Both of our parents were in retirementcommunities prior, so we understood

the importance of wanting to rid ourselves of caring for a home. Mostimportantly, we knew we didn’t want to leave all the caregivingresponsibilities to our children.”

With the support of their children, Hubert and Cateen moved into acottage at Piedmont Crossing almost two years ago. Prior to theirarrival, the cottage was completely renovated inside and out. “TheOlive’s home received a makeover,” shared Blair White, MarketingDirector at Piedmont Crossing. “All of our homes get standardrenovations, but the Olive’s cottage actually received a façade updatetoo. We added a gable, columns, and stacked rock to the front of thehome to create a more modernized look.” The Olives also changed thescreened porch to a sunroom. “Although we both love the sunroom,Hubert has taken over that area of the house,” laughed Cateen.

On most any day of the week, the Olives can be found playing bridge, exercising or attending one of the many planned day trips. They arestill active at their church in Lexington, and occasionally make it totheir beach property for some extra TLC. “Since we moved toPiedmont Crossing, we are truly living a carefree life now. Our homeand lawn care responsibilities are taken care of. If an appliance stopsworking, we just pick up the phone and they handle everything. Andwhat’s really great is knowing that care is right here when we need it,”said Cateen.  If you would like to learn more about the worry-free lifeat Piedmont Crossing, call Blair White today at 336.474.3605.
