Improved 25° curvature
MATERIALS
The NEANN LSB is made with a specialised inner wooden panel, and an infusion molded fiberglass construction, coated with multiple layers of jelcoat to give it significant strength, greater surface protection, and minimal flexion in comparison to other Boards on the market.
CURVED SHAPE
The NEANN LSB provides a significantly improved curvature over other Boards on the market to improve comfort, reduce pressure points, and increase security for the patients1-8:
• NEANNs curved LSB provides 25° curvature which is similar to the Scoop Stretcher (24°) for improved comfort4.
• Flat boards have increased pain1-3 compared to a curved devices4-5. • Curve Boards reduce pressure area compliucations by spreading patient con-
tact points as compared to a flat Board6-7. • Curved Boards provide greater side support during extrication and carrying
compared to flat Boards, giving the patient a greater sense of security. • Curved Boards provides improved access to handles. • Curved Boards allow for a thinner side which eases the application when
compared to flat Boards, being much thicker and requiring the patient to be rolled over a thicker edge.

ENDS FLUSH WITH GROUND
The NEANN LSB ends are flush with the ground, which through training programs, has been shown to improve the application and removal of the Board in a range of situations taught to Ambulance staff8:
WIDE BASE FOR STABILITY
To provide a stable platform for the patient to lay on, the NEANN LSB provides a wide 20 cm base on the underneath of the Board. This prevents accidental tilting when the patient moves.
LENGTH
The improved length of the NEANN LSB, combined with the carefully positioned shoulder positioning points means the NEANN LSB caters for longer patients than other curved Boards on the market.
This combination resolves leg overhang for patients up to 1800 mm in height, raised as a major Ambulance OH&S issue when lifting other branded curved Boards.
A sports version is also available for sporting groups requiring a longer board.

CARRY HANDLES
A total of 16 hand holds have been provided on the NEANN LSB for supporting the Board during extractions, and for carrying the Board (seven down each side & 1 at each end). The side carry handles at each end have been placed as close to the ends as Board by two Officer crews. To improve handle comfort, shaping and additional jelcoating has been added, whilst still maintaining a thin side for improved application. Lifting handles close
to ends for improved ergonomic lifting

SPEED-CLIPS & STRAPS
The Speed-Clip Strapping System has been chosen as the primary patient securing system due to it’s rapid application9-11, taking under three minutes to fully secure the patient to the Board. The new Neann Speed-Clip buckles provide an improved tumbled poly-dipped clip that removes any sharp edges. An increased concave shape also allows for easier attachment and release of the buckles.

ATTACHMENT POINTS
A total of 22 speed-clip buckle attachment points have been provided on the NEANN LSB, with the majority of these being where they are most needed (shoulders to lower legs). As the attachment points receive significant usage over the life of the Board, the NEANN LSB provides a 10 mm thick attachment with minimal distance for improved durability and strength.

SHOULDER ATTACHMENT POINTS
To prevent buckles digging into the patient shoulders, NEANN introduced the side-on shoulder attachment. By making both holes the same large size, buckles can be placed either way to cope with changing strapping needs. The shoulder attachment point is also essential for correct positioning on the NEANN LSB. To assist this, the Board is labeled ‘SHOULDERS’ .

LABELLING
The majority of applications and removal procedures of the Board require the patient to be slid along the Board8. Therefore for the best use of the Board, the Board requires a patient contact surface that remains smooth and free of any stickers that may interfere with sliding, and therefore potentially cause OH&S safety issues. NEANN jelcoats all labels into the Board for this very reason. Jelcoating further prevents wear and tear of essential labels that would otherwise disappear, be destroyed, or gather dirt & blood making cleaning more difficult. Owner labels are also jelcoated into the Board to make theft of equipment much more difficult. Under no circumstances should stickers be placed on the upper surface of any NEANN LSB.

X-RAY, CT AND MRI USAGE
The NEANN LSB’s strength is in it’s design and manufacturing process. It uses no metal or other substances that will interfere with x-ray, CT or prohibit its use in an MRI.
CLEANING
The NEANN LSB provides a smooth cleaning surface with no stickers, thus allowing easy cleaning of the Board to meet the Australian standards for Laundry Practice (AS 4145-1994). The Speed Clip Straps also meet the Australian standards for Laundry Practice (AS 4145-1994). The purchasing organisation should follow current approved cleaning standards.

SECURING TO A STRETCHER
Due to the handle design and manufacturing process, the NEANN LSB can easily be secured to the Ambulance Stretcher for safety during transport. The high 25° curvature of the side further eases the application of the seatbelts through the Board’s hand holds.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING The NEANN LSB comes with a training CD containing the following information:
• “Using the Long Spine Board“ Training Manual • “Vehicle Extraction Techniques” Training Manual • ‘A Photographic Guide To Prehospital Spinal Care’ Training Manual • Long Spine Board Application Videos
The design of the NEANN LSB is the next generation in curve Board design developed from feedback of Ambulance Officers over a 10 year period of using the Blue LSB.
