NEC has developed a standardized face model which enables the derivation of different facial views. This procedure is known as the Perturbation Space Method.

The range of variation of different facial parts is still a challenge, however. NeoFace™ uses a very thorough matching procedure which also works with photos of a person wearing glasses or a hat. To minimize the adverse effects of such partial modifications, NEC uses the Adaptive Regional Blend Matching Method.
