Ephesians 4:11-16
Our PULPIT FOCUS for this month will be “CHRISTIAN
STEWARDSHIP.” We will explore the Biblical basis of Stewardship
as we examine and reflect on the holistic understanding of what it
means to be good and faithful stewards of God’s gifts to us. This
theme runs parallel to the WA Synod theme for September being,
“Sustainable September.”
COVID Safety
We have been in discussions with the Presbytery of WA and have been
instructed that we can reduce some of our cleaning practices even in this Phase
4 stage. What this means is:
• 1 person per 2sqm in all rooms/areas.
• Do not come to church or activities at church if you have any cold/flu
symptoms.
• Regular hand washing. Hand sanitiser is available in all meeting areas
and entrances to the building. Soap is available in the bathrooms and
kitchen.
• Regular cleaning of high contact points: such as door handles, hand rails,
toilets and vacuuming of floors.
• It is preferred that we have non-contact greetings and online giving.
Services will continue online for those unable to join us at church.
To participate together, watch in real time and be a part of an online chat
through comments

THANK YOU
The Church Council would like to thank everyone for continuing to support the
life and mission of our congregation through tithes, offerings and planned giving
via online payments. Your generosity and flexibility in changing to electronic
payments means that we can continue the work of Nedlands Uniting Church.

Jan Ali Haidari is available to do gardening. His mobile is 0434046853
Greenbatch Bin
Randy Salmon has organised for us to have a Greenbatch Recycling Bin to be
located outside our church. You can be assured that appropriate items will be
recycled. You can read about Greenbatch's work at:
https://www.greenbatch.com/
These items can be placed in the bin
This is a great way that we can look after this beautiful world that God created.
Message From Uniting Aid
Uniting Aid is still only available for small emergency, pre-packed hampers due to
COVID Safety guidelines. All is going well and Margaret is pleased to report that due to
the additional payments from Centrelink for families in this difficult time, they are only
getting a few clients who are in very real need. This is great news because it means that
people are only coming in for help if really needed.
Margaret asks that people do not bring in any donations for Uniting Aid just yet as the
shop will remain closed for a few more months but thanks everyone for their ongoing
support and prayers.
West Timor
Continue to pray for our students in West Timor, particularly those who are
finding it difficult to access their courses online during isolation and lock down.
Sunday September 27 at 5pm
What is the Festival of Hymns
The Festival of Hymns is a time to encourage each other in the Body through the
singing of psalm, hymns, and spiritual songs with the Band, Orchestral and the
Festival Singers. It is worship at another level using our instrument for the glory of
God in one spirit. What a wonderful time to look to God for strength, comfort, and
real hope.
Ways You Can Serve
# 1 Join the Festival Singers: Four Practices from Sunday August 30, 10.50 -11.50
AM. If you are moved to join up, please see Grace Iburg or email
# 2. We need help with stage management to transform the space for the event,
and arrange furniture back after, if you can help please see David Preece.
Mission Support
We partner with Go Forth Asia by supporting the local pastors in remote parts of
Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Myanmar, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
Since the global pandemic our Christian brothers and sisters in these countries
have been doing it so tough with the lockdown, lacking basic food and shelter,
while some places were badly hit by the monsoon rain, destroying
their church building and homes. We also want to support the pastors in Rumah
Gloria Tikalong, Kalimantan by providing safer motorbikes for their evangelism
and ministry to the surrounding Dayak villages.
USD1200 supports ONE Pastor
(Basic needs for one year, so he can focus on shepherding the community)
USD1500 supports ONE motorbike for the Motorbike ministry
We invite you to sow into Christ’s kingdom to bring the Gospel message of love
and transform the lives and communities in Asia. UCA Nedlands Bank account is
now accepting contribution, please give generously and include the reference
GoForthAsia to

It is unmistakable that those who are faithful with little are also faithful with much.

Children and Families Corner
Play Group
Play Group has resumed for Term 3. We had removed the booking system as
last term we did not exceed numbers for our space.
However, we have seen increased attendance this term and have reinstated
Trybooking. It costs nothing to book. You must book one ticket for every adult
and one for every child attending as we have a maximum of 22 places available
to comply with state government restrictions. You need to book for each session
you are attending. If you forget to book, you are welcome to drop in see if there
are still places available - just be aware that places might be full.

Sunday Clubs
This week we will continue with our theme on Peace looking at how Christ brings
us internal peace.
Thanks be to God that some wonderful people have stepped forward to lead
Sunday Club groups next term. We will start with smaller groups after the next
school holidays.
Please continue to pray for and consider joining our ministry to the children and
youth in our church as we continue to need more leaders in the future.
Holiday Clubs
I am beginning to plan for Holiday Clubs in the September/October holidays.
They will be held on the Thursday mornings. We already have some volunteers -
which is fantastic but more are required. Please contact Julie if you would be
available to run craft or game activities with primary aged children.
