Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born in a village in the Transkei on the 18 July 1918.

Official ANC Policy

• ANC decided to fight Apartheid by using

peaceful means.

• Strikes, demonstrations and non-co-operation.

• This was the accepted official ANC policy.

• When ANC failed to bring peaceful change, they then decided to use violent forms of political struggle.

• He was captured again and sent to life in prison.

Mandela has received more than 50 International honorary degrees from Universities.
