What is NEMAP?

• NEMAP = Navy Emergency Management Addressing Project

• Current State- Based on building number- No address coordination with external emergency

responders

• What is Base Street Addressing?- Provides e911 compliant Navy addresses similar to

outside agencies (ATT, Sprint, etc..)- Multi-agency approach – GRC, PWD, Local

government, among others- Address database hosted by outside agencies

• NERMS- No Street Ranges or Addressing- GeoVerification of 911 Calls by Bldg. Number - Regional Datasets and Schemas- Different and outdated Versions of CAD/GIS Software per

Region

ALI- GeoVerification of 911 Calls by NEMAP Address & Bldg

Number- Enterprise Datasets and Schemas- Same Version of CAD/GIS Software across CONUS

Regional Dispatch Center Locations• The purpose of the Regional Dispatch Centers (RDC’s) is to

consolidate local base dispatch centers within existing Navy regions.

The CNIC RDC dispatchers have access to CAD, GIS, Radio and 9-1-1. They can dispatch USN response for any base located within the region.

Lessons Learned

• Housing should be vetted with the Local Governments• Previous addressing efforts did not follow local guidelines,

sometimes they were workable and some not• Mailing addresses versus Life Safety

- What is more important to YOU?

• Fire and safety personnel usually know their base best- GIS analysts have situational awareness!

• Base streets should be vetted through Local Government• Best practices and workflow/technical knowledge• Still learning…….
