Nemo Link flow from the start until now
⚫ BE has settled higher than GB in only 4 months in the past 5 years.
⚫ Flow towards Belgium mainly occurs during winter months, whereas February was unusually
warm and March was more windy than normal.
⚫ In the summer GB usually settles at gas level, whereas the Continent is better supplied at
lower price levels.

Falling spreads GB-BE due to falling gas price
Nemo Link Intraday Launch Workshop - 23rd October 2019page 16
Falling spreads GB-BE due to rising emission price
⚫ On 7 May we held our first monthly auction, for June-19.
⚫ More monthly auctions have followed since
⚫ Auction cancellation or low volumes➢ Brexit uncertainty
➢ Low spreads
➢ Delivered spread after losses ‘structurally’ at or above auction price.
– Auctions can work as a revenue hedge.
– In case of outages/incidents, no income, but reward payments continue.
⚫ Quarterly and yearly products are scheduled:➢ Q1-19: 11-12 November
➢ Cal 20: 2-3 December
⚫ Number of players ➢ 29 participants in total that have bid in Nemo Link’s auctions
➢ 21 participants have won capacity

Nemo Link Long term auctions
Nemo Link Intraday Launch Workshop - 23rd October 2019page 18
Monthly explicit auction price vs day ahead settlement
⚫ In general very similar to the 2019 calendar.
⚫ Monthly, quarterly and yearly products.
⚫ All auctions are scheduled to end on the first or third Tuesday of a month.
➢ Except the ones ending on Tuesday 21 July.
⚫ With less Brexit uncertainty it should become easier to create a fixed strategy.
⚫ Winter period coming up with nice volatility potential.
⚫ Yearly auction for cal 2021 expected to be earlier in the year.

⚫ We recognise the need and value to provide an intraday product in terms of:
➢ Customer feedback
➢ Regulatory feedback
➢ Allowing onshore TSOs the ability to manage flows on a closer to real time basis
➢ Providing the wider market the ability to trade/flow physical energy closer to real time
⚫ Within 10 months of go-live, we are now offering the entire suite of timescales to the market –
something we are fairly proud of.
⚫ We are still committed to XBID, pending Brexit outcomes.

Nemo Link Ltd Conference: e-nominations ARP
Every ARP is responsible for maintaining ¼ h balance between total injections and total offtakes in its portfolio and within its perimeter.
In order to achieve this golden rule, the ARP:
• is entitled to sell/purchase electricity on the HUB/Epex• is entitled to import/export electricity and purchase capacity rights• should send day-ahead nominations for off-take, generation, import/export and
hub deals.
The Balance Responsible Party signs an ARP contract with Elia.
Regulated perimeter: 3 basic concepts ► Golden rule: ARP Balance
66
The ARP (“Access Responsible Party”)
▪ is responsible for ensuring balance between all injections and all offtakes by the access holders for which it is the ARP.
All injections = All off-takes (Sum IN = Sum OUT)
➢ Total injection for an ARP for a given quarter hour, is the sum of:
▪ all imports (day-ahead and intra-day nominations) nominated and executed by the ARP,
▪ all actual injections at the injection points allocated to the ARP (as defined in the related access contracts),
▪ all distribution offtake positions allocated to the ARP if the result is a net injection,
▪ all injections by hub-transfers of energy (day-ahead and intra-day nominations) nominated by the ARP (“as the buyer”).
Regulated perimeter: 3 basic concepts ► Total injection = Total off-take
67
➢ Total off-take for an ARP for a given quarter hour, is the sum of:
▪ all exports (day-ahead and intra-day nominations) nominated and executed by the ARP,
▪ all actual off-takes at offtake points allocated to the ARP (as defined in the related access contracts) ,
▪ all distribution offtake positions allocated to the ARP if the result is a net off-take,
▪ all off-takes by hub transfers of energy (day-ahead and intra-day nominations) nominated by the ARP (“as the seller”),
▪ losses: 1,45% (peak) and 1,35% (off-peak) of all physical offtakes
Regulated perimeter: 3 basic concepts ► Total injection = Total off-take
68
➢ Nominations (“Schedules”)
▪ = The access schedule of a planned power injection or offtake of an ARP.
▪ The ARP has to submit a nomination for each of its power injections or off-takes.
▪ “Capacity” unit = “Megawatt” = MW
▪ “Energy” unit = MWh
▪ Time frame = 1 h on a border, ¼ h inside Belgium

➢ HUB = electronic platform for exchanges amongst ARPs. (The platform is free of charge).
➢ = OTC (“Over The Counter”)
➢ HUB nomination:
▪ Every exchange of power between two ARPs on the Elia grid.
▪ Both ARPs have to signal this exchange of power to Elia through a nomination.
▪ Elia checks whether both nominations match.
▪ This nomination does not have any physical impact on the Elia grid.
73
Nominations► HUB: bilateral agreements
Schedule: positive MW values on a quarter-hourly basis (accuracy 0.1 MW).
74
Nominations► HUB via e-Nominations website
▪ Deadline for submission by both ARPs: before 14:00 D-1 → DA
▪ Deadline for submission by both ARPs: before 14:00 D+1 → ID
▪ If “BalanceOK” by 14:00: nomination is blocked (can no longer be changed);
▪ If “BalanceError”, ARPs can correct it until 14:30.
▪ If a nomination still shows inconsistencies by 14:30, Elia evaluates the inconsistency and:
• Rejects it if it endangers the balance on the grid;
• Allows it if it does not endanger the balance on the grid. Any inconsistency that has been allowed, is invoiced to the ARPs.
