Jacintha graduated from the London School of Economics in 2013 as a sociologist. At 22, she co-founded Sustainer Homes, a company that builds radically sustainable cradle2cradle homes that generate all their own energy and water. Apart from producing energy-neutral homes, Sustainer Homes is one of the first to use sustainable technology and smart algorithms to develop homes that need no connection to the electricity grid whatsoever. With Sustainer Homes, she proved that building homes at less than 7% of the CO2 impact of a regular home was not merely a goal for the distant future, but a possibility today. Three months after founding the company, Sustainer Homes was able to show their first prototype to the world, and 9 months later they are well underway with their first large commercial projects across the country. Sustainer Homes won the 2015 ASN Bank World prize, and was featured in international publications such as Gizmag & NBC as well as a range of Dutch news outlets and papers. As a commercial director in a sector traditionally focused more on ‘stones’ than on people, Jacintha rather views homes as one of the most fundamental ways to make a positive impact in people’s lives. - both in terms of environmental and social impact. By building affordable homes without any connections or bills, she hopes to give people a sense of independence and freedom: from large (energy) corporations, from huge debts, from mortgages, and from the jobs you work just to pay your rent. In the near future, Jacintha hopes to take Sustainer Homes across international borders, setting new standards for living globally. Before founding Sustainer Homes, Jacintha co-founded Kickstart Your Social Impact, an organisation that helps young people to kickstart their careers by working on innovative social projects

Vivianne Bendermacher is a tech expert hailing from the Netherlands. She is the founder of Techionista; an on- and offline platform that focuses on empowering women via technology. She believes the world needs more female role models when it comes to tech, in order to inspire women to embrace technology. Thanks to her frequent presence in media - she’s a tech expert on national television, writes tech columns for a variety of well-known brands, and talks about tech and science on national radio - she became a role model herself. Bendermacher was only 26 years old when she became the editor in chief of one of the oldest popular science magazines in the Netherlands: KIJK. A few years later she launched a second popular science brand: Know How. In 2014 she decided to leave the two brands to become the editor in chief of VIVA: one of the biggest female focused media brands in the Netherlands. Now, she’s scaling her start-up Techionista. One of the main goals is to educate women with coding skills. She organizes free coding classes and develops a coding course with a job guarantee. In the Netherlands only 10 percent of the programmers are female. Bendermacher: “Within a few years everything - from sports to fashion - will be tech. If women don’t want to miss out, we should focus on programming right now.”

Suzan Claesen comes from a family of entrepreneurs working within creative industries. Her parents own and run an established interiors and furniture workshop called Bottesteyn Interiors. She was involved from a young in age in the selection and wholesale purchase of products, the styling of the shop, advising customers and marketing the business. After studying and following a career in nursing, where she learnt a number of valuable disciplines, she gravitated towards the interior design world. She began designing and making her own furniture range. By having access to a high quality workshop she learnt from the experienced cabinet makers the construction processes and material qualities needed to be able to design and make furniture. From this passion for designing and making furniture the idea to create a platform for independent designers was born. Suzan believes the current design industry does not benefit either the designer or the customer. CROWDYHOUSE was created to solve this problem, stimulate unique design and give independence to designers. At CROWDYHOUSE Suzan is responsible for the operational site of the business and most passionately the designer community of CROWDYHOUSE. She is always on the look out for eager designers with new unique design.

Saskia Nijs is part-time PhD candidate at the VU, columnist at Financieel Dagblad, head of strategy at Philips and speaker and advisor on the 21st century organization. Besides all of that she is mother of 2 daughters (twins), wife of a nerd, and living in Amsterdam. After her studies (European Studies) at the University of Amsterdam, she started working in a start-up company for internet access, websites etc. Ever since, she has worked in technology companies. From telecom: PSINet, software: Microsoft, VR: Layar and now in healthtech. During her work at Microsoft she was part of the transition to the new way of working and led a leadership program on how to manage in the 21st century. There she became passionate about the way companies are organized. If we want to support people that work with their 21st century skills (creative, solution driven, self-supporting) how come we organize ourselves still in ways that reside from the 19th century? With the technology as the crucial basis for how we work, live, communicate, learn and have fun, we can do so much more with our human skills. Organizations need to find the right balance between technology and emotions and therefore organize themselves differently. With her expertise, Saskia researches, advises and supports a lot of CEOs, owners, managers and employees on how to innovate in the ways they organize their companies. How to adjust in this new era where technology takes over so much of our routine work but where human skills are crucial for success. She advises both big corporations but also a lot of start-ups, since they also have the challenge to maintain their employees and offer them the right career- and learning perspectives.

I Co-started my first company straight out of school. Tombello was a high-end fashion brand for leather laptop bags. With no knowledge of leather, manufacturing or experience in the fashion industry I made various mistakes. And with that learned many valuable lessons. In the past twelve years I co-founded various other products in several markets. I rolled into the software and later hardware/IoT world when I met my current co-founder Steven Kroon. He taught me about the beauty of soft-and hardware developing. I fell in love with the endless possibilities it brings. Today I am the proud Co-Founder of TryLikes, an Internet of Things company who measures real-time customer feedback. We quickly developed a strong product-market fit. At the end of 2015 we were selected as the top 10 most promising European Startups of 2015 by the #1 accelerator programs in Europe; Startupbootcamp. Today we are a fast growing Startup. I don’t think everyone should start their own tech company. I do think everyone should develop an interest for tech and should learn about hard- and software development as soon as possible. It is applicable for any market, any job and should be part of everyone’s today and tomorrow.

Anouk Wipprecht is working in the emerging field of “fashion-tech”, a rare combination of fashion design combined with engineering, science and interaction/user experience design, where she created an impressive body of tech-enhanced designs bringing together fashion and technology in an unusual way. She creates technological couture; with systems around the body that tend towards artificial intelligence. Projected as ‘host’ systems on the human body, her designs move, breath, and react to the environment around them. Part futuristic, part anime-meets-high fashion, her aesthetics are set apart from more utilitarian wearables (which are all about function) and can be considered artistic creations in themselves. Many of her designs have been exhibited as well as demonstrated during events and showcases. In Anouk’s designs the technology creates the aesthetics as opposed to simply enhancing a function which is hidden. Keen on showing the nuts and bolts of the garments (often the valves and mechanisms are displayed on the outside), we witness the designs creating their own unique forms of interaction, movement and meaning. Wipprecht is an artist, designer, curator and lecturer (Netherlands, Los Angeles, San Francisco, China, Austria) in electronic couture, and has worked for names as the Black Eyed Peas, SuperBowl, Eurovision, with work and interviews featured in international magazines. She is the brainchild/curator of the TECHNOSENSUAL ‘Where Fashion meets Technology’ exhibition, with attached Artist in Residency program to stimulate the grow of fashiontech projects coupling fashion designers and engineers together, that took place in Vienna/ Austria over the summer of 2012 and attracted 32.000 visitors in a two and a half month time span. She recently released the TECHNOSENSUAL exhibition catalogue in collaboration with partner monochrom (AT) which gives a glimpse in the background concept and structure of the exhibition as well as representing featured artists participating in the exhibition.
