Pleased to meet you...Joshua Goldstein, MD, PhDNETTHubPrincipalInvestigatorMassachusettsGeneralHospitalDr. Goldstein joined the ED at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2006 after an emergency medicine residency and a research fellowship in Vascular and Critical Care Neurology. His clinical research program studies the acute diagnosis and management of patients with neurologic emergencies, including a focus on intracerebral hemorrhage. He lives north of Boston with his wife, Erica, two daughters, Alexa (11) and Lindsey (8), and their dog Bella. They love skiing, hiking, and taking bike rides. Dr. Goldstein definitely does not play violent (but awesome) videogames like Modern Warfare because that would set a terrible example for his daughters and he totally would not do that.

Bethany Lane, RNProTECT Project ManagerEmory UniversityBethany has been a clinical research nurse at Emory University since 2000. Prior to joining the NETT in July, her experience included stroke neurology research, bone marrow transplant, oncology, and management of a 4-state branch of a home infusion company. Bethany is a native of Washington state and was a West-Coaster her entire life prior to moving to Atlanta in 1995. She enjoys travel and has been in all but 2 states - Delaware and Hawaii. Bethany and her husband, Ron, are active volunteers with the Georgia Council for International Visitors and have hosted people from more than 25 countries. Bethany and Ron enjoy what they call “electric camping”. This involves a camper with electricity for air conditioning, an electric blanket, microwave, and a margarita blender - life’s little essentials.

Ben Hume, BSNETT Research AssistantUniversityofMichigan,ClinicalCoordinatingCenterBen completed his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry this past May at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. He worked at the Clinical Coordinating Center last summer and is glad to be back. Ben wants to become a physician and is currently in the process of applying to medical schools. In his free time, Ben likes to spend time with his family and friends, and loves sports. He was an All-American football player in college. Another love of his is travel. He has traveled the world - England, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico just to name a few. His favorite destination so far is New Zealand and he hopes to go back someday soon.

WebDCU™:

Reminder for Changes to Study Team MembersWhen a study team member at your spoke is no longer working on a trial or becomes a study team member at an additional spoke, please notify the data manager for that trial to update that person’s WebDCU™ permissions. The ‘Is Active’ status in the [Project Spoke Team Member Table] refers to someone’s status as an active/inactive study team member, not whether or not that person has an active/inactive WebDCU™ account. It is critical that database permissions be created for study team members at all spokes where they participate to avoid random-ization problems.
