OVERVIEWNetwork Monitor is a TPx web-based tool that gives you the ability to easily detect,
diagnose and resolve network issues – before outages occur. You can use it to get
both enterprise-wide and individual interface insights that enable you to effectively and
clearly manage all network events to keep your business communicating smoothly.
Accessing and Logging into Network Monitor
Logging in is simple. Go to networkmonitor.TPx.com and enter the user name and
password you received from TPx.
When you first begin using Network Monitor you will receive a unique, randomly
generated password from TPx via mail. You will probably want to change it to
something easier for you to use. You will find the “Change Password” tab on the
Network Monitor Home Page.
It is critically important to ensure that you remember your password. In
order to protect your account security, TPx does not keep any record of your
password. If you forget it, you’ll have to call in to TPx Technical Support and they will
mail you a new temporary password.

UNDERSTANDING WHAT YOU SEENode Status Icons
You can quickly see the status of every node in Network Monitor’s different views
without reading the details. These clear visual icons are used consistently throughout
Network Monitor.
Hovering Over a Node for Quick Information
If you hover your pointer over a specific node or interface object anywhere in Network
Monitor, you’ll call up a quick tool tip message that gives you highlights about top level
status and node characteristics. Clicking on the node drills down to more detailed
information, which will be described in specific Customer Guide sections.

SUMMARY TAB This is where you’ll spend most of your time on Network Monitor. It’s a single page
at-a-glance display that gives you immediate access to all the critical information you
need to monitor your network’s performance. Here’s what you’ll see:

TPx Links
Find links to online resources you can use to find additional information, guidance
or quick trouble resolution from TPx. You’ll get one-click access to key forms and
contacts you can use to quickly resolve any issue.
Current Node Issues
This is the chart you’ll probably check first when you use Network Monitor. It is a
current snapshot of all ongoing problems on nodes in your network. You can click on
each highlighted issue to drill down for more content. It will show any warning, critical
or down alarms in your network, including problems with availability, response time
and packet loss.
All Nodes Listing
Every node that Network Monitor tracks can be easily accessed from this tool. It
shows your entire network in a clear hierarchical tree organized by site that lets you
easily expand listings to drill down to the individual node you want to look at.
