Installing (Based on model T5850-48S6Q)

Desk Mounting

1. Attach four rubber pads to the bottom.

2. Place the chassis on a desk.

1. Secure the mounting brackets to the two sides of the TAP aggregation with eight M4 screws.

2. Attach the TAP aggregation to the rack using four M6 screws and cage nuts.

1. Connect one end of the grounding cable to a proper earth ground, such as the rack in which the

TAP aggregation is mounted.

2. Secure the grounding lug to the grounding point on the TAP aggregation back panel with the

washers and screws.

CAUTION: The earth connection must not be removed unless all supply connections have been disconnected.

1. Plug the AC power cord into the power port on the back of the TAP aggregation.

2. Connect the other end of the power cord to an AC power source.

First install the SFP+ transceivers and then connect �ber optic cables to the transceivers, or directly

connect DAC cables to the SFP+ ports.

WARNING: Do not install power cords while the power is on.

WARNING: Laser beams will cause eye damage. Do not look into bores of optical modules or optical �bers without eye protection.

1. Connect the DB9 female connector of the mini USB to RS-232 cable to RS-232 serial port on the

computer.

2. Insert the mini USB connector into the USB port on the front of the TAP aggregation.

1. Connect the DB9 female connector of the console cable to RS-232 serial port on the computer.

2. Insert the RJ45 connector into the RJ45 console port on the front of the TAP aggregation.

Con�guring the TAP Aggregation Using the Console Port

Step 1: Connect a computer to the TAP aggregation's console port using the supplied console cable.

Step 2: Start the terminal simulation software such as HyperTerminal on the computer.

Step 3: Con�gure the terminal simulation with the following parameters:

Con�guring the TAP Aggregation

Con�guring the TAP Aggregation Using the Web-based Interface

Step 1: Connect your computer to any Ethernet port of the TAP aggregation using the network cable.

Step 2: Set up the IP con�guration on your computer. The IP address of your computer should be set

in the same subnet addresses of the TAP aggregation. The IP address is 192.168.1.x ("x" is any

number from 2 to 254).

Step 3: Open a web browser window. Enter the default IP address of the TAP aggregation http://192.

168.1.1 in the address bar and press enter.

Step 4: When the login page appears choose the language that you prefer and enter the username

and password.

The default username is admin. The default password is admin.

Step 5: Click Login to display the web-based con�guration page.

Troubleshooting

CAUTION: After using boot_�ash_nopass command, system will clear up the startup-con�g �les; before starting this operation, the startup-con�g �les will be stored in �ash:/startup-con�g.conf.old �le.

Loading Failure Processing

1. Check the physical port connections.

2. Check the loading process information displayed on the super terminal.

3. Make sure physical connections are correct and there are no input errors in the loading process.

User Password Lost

If system password is lost or forgotten, the following method can be used to reset password:

1. Enter uBoot operation mode.

2. Input boot_�ash_nopass command to start system in uBoot mode.

Step 4: Enter the username and password. The default username is admin. The default password is

admin.

You are now ready to con�gure the TAP aggregation. Refer to the TAP Aggregation CLI Reference

Guide online for further information.

1. Check th power cable connections at the TAP aggregation and the power source.

2. Make sure that all cables are used correctly and comply with the Ethernet speci�cations.

Power LED Working Abnormally

1. Make sure the power supply is normal and the console cable is properly connected.

2. Check if the console cable is the right type.

3. Check if the control cable driver is properly installed on the computer.

4. Ensure the parameters of the HyperTerminal are correct.
