Advantages of NEMO® Sanitary and Aseptic Progressing Cavity Pumps

General Features of NEMO® Sanitary and Aseptic Progressing Cavity Pumps

The sanitary design of parts and machinery, as well as the cleanability of manufacturing plants, are defined by numerous rules and regulations. NEMO® Pumps are constructed, manufactured and tested according to EHEDG regulations (European Hygienic Equipment DesignGroup) or QHD regulations (Qualified Hygienic Design). The materials used are certified in accordance with FDA (Food and DrugAdministration), BgVV (Bundesinstitut für gesundheitlichen Verbraucherschutz und Veterinarmedizin) and PL (Positive List/Japan) standards.

Additionally, NEMO® Sanitary and Aseptic Progressing Cavity Pumps are certified according to the 3A Sanitary Standards of the United Statesand the GOST-R (Russian Certificate of Conformity).

CIP/SIP ProcessIn the CIP Process, the entire system requires a cleaning fluid velocity of at least 1.5 m/s. To accomplish this, NEMO® Sanitary and AsepticProgressing Cavity Pumps are equipped with additional flushing ports. The position of these ports can be determined depending on the application and require a bypass pipe. The bypass is also required for the SIP process. In both CIP and SIP processes, NEMO® Pumps are oper-ated intermittently.

Tangential flushing ports guarantee complete self-emptying of a NEMO® Pump. All pump materials used are suitable for CIP and SIP processes.

NEMO® NM Sanitary Pumps

Providing superior quality and versatility, NEMO® Sanitary Pumps are suitable for clean-in-placeprocesses when provided with optional flushing ports. In addition, these pumps meet 3A stan-dard requirements and can be disassembled quickly for easy cleaning. The exclusive NEMO®

Progressing Cavity Modular Pump Design, combined with a food grade Nitrile or EPDM stator, create a proven and reliable solution for all your sanitary pump applications.

Features and Benefits of NEMO® Sanitary Pumps

Seal Options for NEMO® Sanitary PumpsUnbalanced, single seal, independent of direction of rotation elastomer bellows. Elastomer in compliance with FDA standards is available uponrequest.

Unbalanced, single seal, independent of direction of rotation, with productprotected spring. Smooth surface. Seals in SlC. Elastomer in compliancewith FDA standards.

Titanium Flexible RodThe flexible rod for universal use in the NEMO®

Sanitary Plus Series is made from titanium. Its sanitary design is corrosion-proof and wear andmaintenance free because there are no components moving against each other as in the otherjoint types. Furthermore, the high elastic titanium modulus results in a compact design. Neitherlubrication nor seals are required. Therefore, the lubricity of the fluid does not have to betaken into consideration. Ideal for pumping highly sensitive products with or without solidsand for uncompromising sanitary applications.

Feeding Screw HopperFor highly viscous and pasty products, the pump is optionallyequipped with a feeding screw and a hopper with auger to allowfor optimal filling of the conveying chambers.

Heating Rail and Thermal JacketOptional version with pump housing and stator which can beheated or cooled.

NEMO® NM Aseptic Pumps

Offering reliability and uncompromising quality, NEMO® Aseptic Pumps are ideal for all pure andsterile pumping applications. NEMO® meets the most demanding aseptic requirements in theindustry as well as 3A standards, and are clean-in-place and sterilize-in-place able. In addition, all sealing points are designed as sterile intersections to completely ensure against contamination from the environment.

Features and Benefits of NEMO® Aseptic Pumps• All wetted parts are polished to No. 4 Finish Standards (equivalent to 32 micro inch Ra maximum)• Available in Standard Construction (SA)• Ideal for Abrasive and Highly Viscous Products• Long Service Life• Deliver Steady, Non-Pulsating, Metered Flow up to 620 gpm

NEMO® Aseptic Pump SealsDouble mechanical seal in tandem arrangement with unpressurized, static or dynamic quench. Mechanical seals in SlC. Elastomer in compliance with FDA standards. The design of the rotating unit guarantees the seal integrity at changing temperatures and pressures. The seal complies with 3A, EHEDG and QHD regulations.

Rotor

Stator with Reduced Wall ThicknessFor varying operating temperatures, a patented statorwith reduced elastomer wall thickness is used. In addition, a thermal stator protector (STP-2 or STP-D) foroverheating and dry run protection is available.

Titanium Flexible RodThe patented flexible rod manufactured from titanium iscorrosion-proof, wear and maintenance-free becausethere are no components moving against each other asin other joint types. The high elastic titanium modulusresults in a compact design. Neither lubrication nor sealsare required; therefore, the capability of the fluid doesnot have to be taken into consideration. Ideal for shear-sensitive fluids with or without solids and for uncom-promising sanitary and aseptic applications.

Double, Buffered Static SealsAll static seals to the atmosphere are double sealedchambers. Sterile condensate, vapor and/or detectorfluid is continuously supplied to the chambers. Throughthe contamination-proof design the process cycle can bereduced by the removal of some sterilization processes.Consequently, output capacity increases as the numberof cleaning cycles decreases. This allows for new possi-bilities to improve product quality by sterile handlingwhere taste and flavor remain unchanged and the shelflife is prolonged.

Housing/Discharge FlangeThe pump housing has a reduced diameter for optimalflow velocity and minimized pump volume. The bodyflange is located directly above the shaft seal removingany dead flow areas. Therefore the deposit of fluid in thehousing during the manufacturing cycle is eliminated. Thetangential arrangement of the cleaning ports initiate a hel-ical flow during cleaning which guarantees perfectcleaning of the whole pump body. In addition, the pumpwill be completely emptied.
