THIS WEEKThe Nevada swimming and diving team will head north to Federal Way, Wash. and compete in the Husky Invite Dec. 1-3, hosted by the Husky Swimming Foundation. This invitational will mark the Wolf Pack’s final competition prior to the start of the spring session, which is set to begin Jan. 12 with a matchup against Cal State East Bay.

LAST TIME OUTFollowing its first dual win of the season against Fresno State, the Pack traveled to Berkley, Calif. to take on the reigning national runner-up California Bears. Nevada hung tough throughout the entire meet and showed that it can compete with the nation’s best, having placed second in five of the 11 events against the Bears. In total, the Pack notched off one event win, but its effort wasn’t enough as the team fell to Cal, 127-65.

DON’T FORGET ABOUT DRESince joining the team at semester break last season, sophomore Andressa Cholodovskis has quickly made her mark as one of the best swimmers in the conference. Last season, she earned All-Conference honors in the 200-yard IM and freestyle, and this year she is making her case for a MW Swimmer of the Year accolade. So far this season, she has won a total of seven individual events, which is a team-high.

A PROMISING FUTURESo far this season, the Wolf Pack has received major contributions from members of its freshmen class, showing signs of success in years to come. Donna dePolo currently holds the team’s best time in the 100-yard (1:03.75) and 200-yard (2:18.63) breaststroke, while her classmate Caitlyn McHugh has proven to be an impactful distance swimmer, having recorded the team’s best mark five separate times in a distance event throughout the season. In their young careers, each have won at least one event and combined to place in the top three 12 times.

GREATNESS BEING RECOGNIZED After winning a total of 10 individual events over the course of two days against Boise State and Fresno State, Cholodovskis and senior Sharae Zheng received Mountain West Swimmer and Diver accolades for events through Oct. 31. The award marks the first of Cholodovskis’s career and fifth of Zheng’s career as well as the first time this season that Nevada has received MW weekly honors. The two athletes combined to win every individual event they competed in that week.

INTERNATIONAL LOVEWith only six people on its roster from the United States, Nevada’s unparalleled characteristic of having swimmers and divers from all over the globe has created a cultural diversity that is one of the most unique in all of college sports. Excluding Antarctica, the Pack has at least one student-athlete from every continent in the world, on its current roster.

CONSISTENT COACHINGNevada head coach Brendon Bray enters his second season at the helm of the program, after helping lead the Pack to a 6-1 dual meet record from a year ago. In his four seasons as a head coach at the Division I level, Bray now holds a lifetime record of 19-17 (.514). Alongside Bray is Nevada diving coach Jian Li You, who is in her 22nd season with the Wolf Pack. During her tenure in Reno, You has established Nevada as one of the premier diving schools in the region, having won the past five MW Diving Coach of the Years honors.

WELCOME TO THE PACKNevada welcomes seven newcomers to the roster for the 2017-18 season. The Wolf Pack’s ranks are bolstered by six true freshman in dePolo, Olivia Dockery, Alexandra Hartman, McHugh, Isabella Sangraw and Lauren Stigler. The Pack also welcomes a sophomore in Diana Sokolowska, who transfered from a school in Gdansk, Poland.
