194.1 Battery Replacement

Maintenace and Service Chapter 4

Never modify the 3662-20/3663-20. Also, disas-sembly or repairs must be performed by qualifiedservice engineers only. Observing these precau-tions will prevent fire, electrical shock, injury, orexposure to optical radiation.

4.1 Battery Replacement

• Do not mix old and new batteries, or differenttypes of batteries. Also, be careful to observebattery polarity during installation. Otherwise, poor performance or damage from battery leak-age could result.

• After replacing the batteries, replace the coverand screws before using the product.

• To avoid the possibility of explosion, do not shortcircuit, disassemble or incinerate batteries.

• Handle and dispose of batteries in accordancewith local regulations.

• To avoid corrosion from battery leakage, removethe batteries from the product if it is to be storedfor a long time.

• If a optical fiber cable is bent or twisted, this mayresult in damage to the cable. Be sure to discon-nect the optical fiber cable before replacing thebattery.
