Dear Africa Summit 2018 Participants,
We are pleased to welcome you to participate in the First Africa Summit for Peace, Unity and Sustainable Development to be convened on January 17-20, 2018 in Dakar, Senegal.
The Africa Summit is organized and sponsored by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), in cooperation with the State and Government of Senegal under the Presidency of H.E. Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal.
The Africa Summit’s primary theme is “New Africa: Interdependence, Mutual Prosperity and Universal Values.” The Africa Summit program will include a grand opening plenary, featuring Keynote Addresses from His Excellency Macky Sall, President of Senegal and other Heads of State and Government, as well as a Keynote Address by UPF Founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. The Summit will also feature the launch of the African and Senegal Chapters of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP), the Interreligious Association for Peace and Development (IAPD), and the International Association of Chiefs for Peace and Prosperity (IACPP).
UPF is an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and has active chapters in more than 120 nations around the world. UPF works with all sectors of society–civil society, religion, government, academia, the media, education, the private sector–to build a world of lasting peace. Among the areas of focus for UPF programs are: interfaith peacebuilding and conflict resolution; strengthening marriage and family; youth and service; peace initiatives in Northeast Asia, the Middle East, the Balkans, Africa, etc; and support for the mission and work of the United Nations and the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
Particularly noteworthy among UPF initiatives are the “Peace Road” project, an international peace highway that links the world together for the sake of peace and human development; the Sunhak Peace Prize which honors exemplary individuals and organizations that have served the world; and the Leadership and Good Governance Awards.
Your participation in this important Summit will contribute to the success of the Africa Summit 2018.
Sincerely yours,
Thomas G. Walsh Kathy RigneyChairman President UPF International UPF Africa

International Leadership Conferences, symposia, and peace councils offer opportunities for high-level consultations. These are complemented by “track two” diplomacy and grass-roots programs that build support for a culture of peace.
UPF is an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. We support and promote the work of the United Nations and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
