The New Block 9 Extension1. New Basement (B1) utilises the excavation levels as part of the
demolition work.
2. Hospital tunnel / former morgue space used to connect into new
basement level for services distribution.
3. B1 level with B9 Basement
4. Void along the west provides spatial connection and light from
above.
5. Ground Floor Plan - level / through access from Block 9.
6. Dissection Amphitheatre - positively included into the sequence
of new spaces
7. Cadaver Lift - positively included into the sequence of new spaces,
top lit dramatically revealing the space and prividing daylight to
the Basement.
8. Stepped section- level to Lambeth Palace Road, and raised to
enable floor height to basement and views over the river frontage.
9. Rooflights above the deep plan areas, follows the notional
circulation routes.
10. Secondary entrance, utilsing the stable arch, providing servings
access.
11. Use of the stable arches for entrance, ventilation of Substation,
Refuse
12. Terrace at the prow, vantage point with minimal visual impact
to the Embankment and Lambeth Palace. Contributing to the
curving lines and Portland stone treatment.
13. New apertures with Lambeth Palace Road Wall. New internal wall
construction for structure, insulation, vapour control, and allow
for differential structural movement.
14. Utilising the interstitial space above Wc cores to reduce AHU
visual impact above
