There is No Doubt in my Mind There’s no doubt! My family has been blessed to meet and befriend a family that lives in our neighborhood. We’ve spoken several times as they/we walk around our neighborhood, stopping each other to ask how life is going. Recently we were able to sit down together and play some games and just have some old fashion conversation. It is in reference to this old–fashioned conversation when I make the claim—there is no doubt. But what is there no doubt about? Their love for our Lord.

How can I have no doubt about a new couple we have recently met and only have shared a few hours of conversation ever? Their words. Each word we speak is a tiny indicator of the state of our heart. Matthew 12:34 says, “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” We can attempt to mask what our heart is trying to speak, but eventually our words will showcase the truth. I have no doubt after one visit with our neighbors because of outpouring of their hearts—a.k.a. their words.

What about the words you speak? Are they words of life, seasoned with grace?

Are they words of reconciliation, restoring relationships? Are they words of forgiveness, putting the past behind? Are they words of apology, facing the failures of life? Are they words of love, building up what Satan is attempting to tear down? Are they words of praise, exalting the God of heaven and earth? Are they words truth, honesty, and sincerity? I could go on for paragraphs challenging us to consider our words and how they indicate the current state of our individual heart. I could call out every intentional or unintended “cuss” word no matter the situation. I could call out lie and form of intentional deception. I could call out every word that tears someone down instead of building up. I could. But I won’t. Here is my challenge—choose from the following:

Proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” Life or

Death? Our words not only indicate the current state of our hearts (Luke 6:45; Proverbs 4:23; 10:11–14), they also suggest our coming judgment. Death? Life? Listen to your words and I am convinced you will know the location of eternal destination. Listen to your words and I am convinced you will better understand your heart. Listen to the words of Jesus, and no matter where you are, use Him as an example of where to start. Austin Johnson P

Road Construction Route 66 The road has been resurfaced, and the stripes have been repainted. It will be okay for light foot traffic, but absolutely no liquids (water, tea, coke, coffee, etc.) are to be transported over the roadway until at least JUNE 2nd. There is a sealer being applied, which will need 30 days to fully cure. Thank you for helping out with this.
