May: The Month of Mary The month of May is traditionally the time of year when we honor the Blessed Virgin May with special devotions, such as the May crowning ceremony that we have celebrated this weekend remotely (you can see it following the taped Mass for May 10 on YouTube.) At this time we can look at the life of Mary, and see that she was a person of deep reflection. As we reflect in our own lives what we must be about as Catholics, we can think of Mary as doing the same thing. She tried to make sense of things. When she did not understand, she said to the Lord, “Your will be done.” This indicates the great trust in God that Mary had. God would lead her in the right direction, and would help her to be faithful to the responsibilities she had as the mother of Jesus. Mary is a real role model for us, as a person and as a mother. As a person, she was a woman of deep faith and love. As a mother, she was a woman of hope, trusting that God would guide her in her role as Mother of God. We may want to think about those three virtues that of all us would like to have, virtues that were a part of Mary’s life: faith, hope and love. Faith: We want to always believe in our God who loves and cares for us. He is the one who sent His Son to us and continues to show us the way. Hope: Each one of us has hope. We hope for peace, contentment and happiness. We want to reflect on the fact that the Lord gives us hope, even when things seem overwhelming or impossible to live with. Love: Love is what binds everything together. Out of our faith in a God who loves us, comes love. Out of our hope that we all live in peace on day, comes love. Because we are first loved by God, we can go out and love others and be at peace with them. We can at least start working toward establishing that peace, if it does not exist already. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us! Father David
Happy Mother’s Day On this Mother’s Day, I ask our Lord to bless all of our mothers as we thank them for all the love they have shown us. We also pray for our deceased mothers, asking God to reward them for all they did for us. Happy Mother’s Day to all of our mothers! Father David

Act of Spiritual Communion by Saint Alphonsus Ligouri:
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
Mary, mother of Jesus, woman of Providence,
you formed your child’s faith and led him to his destiny.
Living your life in a real world, as a real woman,
you became a model for all women.
This special day, as in all the days of my life,
I ask blessings for my mother and for all women in my life
whose own faith and care have been a life-long gift to me.

Joy/joi/ noun a feeling of great pleasure and happiness
Even though religious education classes did not end as we’d planned, we began with the theme of joy and we hope we can also continue with joy. You might feel pulled in all directions, but we wish you joy throughout the day...in the warmer weather, slower pace and time with each other.
If you need resources, we have them; if you have questions, we'll get them answered; and, joyfully we will be here for our students and families all summer. We aren't going anywhere!
We continue to pray for our catechists, students and their families. Be assured that you are cherished. Stay well and remember to share joy.
