PROTECTIVE COATING FOR SILVER
MintSeal LLC Auburn, Wash. MintSeal Silver creates an invisi- ble barrier, which isolates the metal surface of a product from air, humidity, and sulfide-contain- ing vapors that ul t imately lead to unsightly tarnishing. Unlike tra- ditional coatings or lacquers, MintSeal Silver provides an invis- ible bar r ie r tha t will not crack, peel, fade, or otherwise decrease the physical proper t ies or the value of the product it protects. It does not simply cover the surface, it chemically bonds (chemisorbs) to the metal 's surface. The mole- cules ar range themselves in a one-molecule-thick layer, which is arranged in a densely packed geo- metric pa t te rn on the surface of the metal. This makes the coating hydrophobic and difficult for cor- rosive vapors to penetra te . MintSeal formulat ions are applied through brief immersion in a water -based solution. A pe t ro leum-based version of MintSeal Silver is also available. Circle 408 on the reader service card
