Verify that the active (write to classic ledger) is not checked.

8. Financial Accounting (New) General Ledger Accounting (New) Business Transactions Document Splitting Classify G/L Accounts for Document SplittingEnter Chart of Accounts CANA and hit <Enter>You enter the G/L Account range and the Category for document splitting. The categories are listed below (partial screen print) You will need to designate some asset accounts (petty cash, investments) to allow processing via specific T-codes (example- petty cash on FB60).

9. Financial Accounting (New) General Ledger Accounting (New) Business Transactions Document Splitting Define Zero-Balance Clearing AccountsYou need to setup your account assignment objects to have a zero balance. When this setting is updated, SAP checks whether the balance of each account

Page 6: New GL Document Splitting Configuration

assignment object is zero after document splitting. If this is not the case, the system generates additional clearing items. In this activity, you have to create a clearing account for these additional clearing items. Usually there are two accounts; a liability (balance sheet) account and an expense account. See the screen shots below for the posting Account key 000s for Item category 01001 (Zero Balance Posting). Verify that you have both 000 (Standard Balance account for IN allocations).

Select an Account Key (Example = 000) and double-click on the Accounts option) in the Dialog Structure box and enter the balance sheet liability account.

Page 7: New GL Document Splitting Configuration

Repeat the steps for all account keys (Xxxxx has two).

10. Financial Accounting (New) General Ledger Accounting (New) Business Transactions Document Splitting Define document Splitting Characteristics for General LedgerXxxxx uses Profit Center and Segment – add them to the characteristics and set ‘Segment” as mandatory by clicking on the Mandatory Field after Document Splitting. The setting “Mandatory Field” specifies that the field must be filled with a value after document splitting. Check the segment field because Xxxxx requires a completely balanced entry and will not accept any unassigned postings. If the indicator is set, then all postings where no value is set for the specified field after document splitting are rejected with an error message.

11. Financial Accounting (New) General Ledger Accounting (New) Business Transactions Document Splitting Define Document Splitting Characteristics for ControllingYou specify additional characteristics to apply document splitting. The additional characteristics are not relevant for General Ledger Accounting. Instead, they are relevant for other application components (such as subcomponents in Controlling) that use documents transferred from General Ledger Accounting. SAP can divide up the line items during the following General Ledger Accounting processes: Clearing of vendor/Customer Items, Cash Discount Paid, Cash Discount

Page 8: New GL Document Splitting Configuration

Received, Lost Cash Discount, Clearing of Open Items, Realized Exchange Rate Differences, Foreign Currency Valuation for Open Items, Expenses / profit from foreign currency valuation, Flat-Rate Individual Value Adjustment for Vendor/Customer Items, and Expenses / profit from individual value adjustment. Note The selected characteristics are only transferred to the specified line items when the account to which the postings are to be made can also take the characteristics. This means in particular that CO account assignments are only transferred when the account has also been set up as a cost element. The field status definition of the account, however, is explicitly excluded from this check. This means that characteristics are also transferred when they are hidden by the field status definition of the G/L account (for manual entry). Select the desired characteristics and save your settings. See settings for Xxxxx below.

12. Financial Accounting (New) General Ledger Accounting (New) Business

Transactions Document Splitting Edit Constants for Nonassigned Processes. Define default account assignments (profit centers, segments) for specific line items in processes for which it is not possible to derive the correct account assignments at the time when the document is posted.

Page 9: New GL Document Splitting Configuration

After adding a constant, select the line and double-click on the Assignment of Values or Assignment of Profit Centers under the Independent Constants folder (in the Dialog Structure area)

Xxxxx is splitting documents by profit center and segment so we added a default segment and profit center for Payroll postings conversions (re-calc) because the original payroll postings did not have segment information (we are activating document splitting).
