Automatic shifting at its best

Four transmissions provide AutoShift convenience during field and road operation.New Holland tractors are known

for their virtually effortless powershifttransmissions. Now, you have thechoice of four. All are electronic,full powershift transmissions withstraightline, forward-reverse shuttleshifting and smooth shift quality.You’ll also enjoy up to 31-mph roadtravel speed and a host of automaticfeatures that allow you to glidethrough the gears without the needto shift manually.

Four choices

• The 18 x 4 powershift transmission provides eight working speeds in the3- to 8-mph tillage range, with a smooth speed change of approximately14% between gears.

• The 23 x 6 creeper powershift transmission offers all of the same featuresas the 18 x 4, plus two additional reverse gears and an additional five for-ward speeds from .54 to 1.68 mph. The ability to operate at rated enginespeeds at ground speeds as slow as .54 mph makes this transmission idealfor specialty crops and low-speed applications. You can shift through allgears, including creeper gears, without stopping the forward travel of thetractor.

• The 19 x 4 reduced–rpm powershift transmission provides an overdrivegear, reducing engine speed for improved fuel savings during transport.

• A fourth choice —the NEW 19 x 4, 31 mph/50 kph powershift transmissionprovides up to 31-mph road travel speed at full throttle to get you fromfarm to field faster.

Easy, natural operationAs you rest your arm on the right-

hand armrest console, your hand isin a natural position to operate thetransmission control lever. Movethe lever forward and you moveforward. Pull it back and you’re inreverse. No clutching required. Twobuttons on the side of the controllever allow you to move through thepowershift gears with the push ofyour thumb. Press the top button andyou shift up one powershift gear at atime. Hold the top button and youmove up one powershift gear everysecond. Use the bottom button in thesame way to downshift.

Shifts for youWith a push of the AutoShift

button on the armrest console, theT8000 Series transmission convertsto an automatic transmission. For

AutoRoad Operation, push the topside (Road) of the Auto button, selectyour start out gear (6-18), and youcan operate the tractor using only thethrottle. For Auto Field Operation,press the bottom side (Field) of Autobutton when you are in field operat-ing gear (1-14) and at an appropriateoperating speed. The transmissionwill automatically maintain tractorperformance based on engine speedand engine load. The transmissionautomatically downshifts when loadincreases, then returns to the selectedgear when conditions improve. The

AutoShift feature can be used at thesame time as the Constant EngineSpeed feature, but does not functionin creeper or reverse gears.

The 23 x 6 creeper transmission adds five forward creeper speeds and two reverse speeds to the standard 18 x 4 transmission. The 19x4 transmission provides afast 31-mph road speed.

As the terrainbecomes more uneven, the shockstiffens up automatically using aspecialized magnetic fluid that canchange from a liquid to a near-solidand back to a liquid in milliseconds. Headland time saverCustom Headland ManagementCustom Headland Management is standardequipment on all T8000 tractors. It is a time-based program that memorizes multipleadjustments you make when turning at theheadland and allows you to recall them withthe push of a single button. A switch underthe padded armrest allows you to “record”and “play back” two separate sequences—one for exiting the row, and the second forentering a row. Up to 30 steps can be record-ed for both sequences combined. Steps caninclude functions like up-shifting, down-shift-ing, engine speed, hydraulic remote valvefunctions, and three-point hitch fast-raise.So, when you come to the end of the row,you simply push one button and the CustomHeadland Management System will automati-cally throttle back, change gears and raise theimplement. Press the button again, and thesystem repeats the second sequence yourecorded to get you back in the row and onyour way. With the FWD and the differentiallock switches both in automatic mode, theTerraLock feature (standard with IntelliSteer-ready Tractors) automatically engages anddisengages these features. It disengages FWDand diff lock when the front axle reaches acertain angle, when you touch the brake pedalor when you raise a three-point implement.

Three-point lift capacity upto 18,590 pounds

Get ready to harness the power ofthe largest implements on the markettoday. Standard lift capacity rangesfrom 14,084 pounds up to 18,590pounds on the T8050. Draft controlElectronic Draft Control (EDC) is

standard on all models. Fingertipcontrols are provided under thearmrest. In load control/draft controlmode, the EDC raises and lowersthe hitch as needed to maintain aconstant draft load on the three-pointhitch through varying soil conditions.Slip control mode can be used whenthe tractor is equipped with theoptional ground speed radar. It raisesand lowers the hitch to maintain aslippage rate that you set.

New hitch-ready optionT8000 tractors ordered as “hitch

ready” allow you to add the three-point hitch back on at a later date ifneeded by you or a subsequentowner. On T8000 tractors, this processtakes only four hours versus two

days on previous models. All internalelectrical and hydraulic controls areinstalled on the tractor, so yourNew Holland dealer just needs toadd the external components.

Optional hydraulic top link controlAn optional, hydraulically con-

trolled top link allows you to changethe tilt of the implement on-the-go bysimply utilizing one of the four or fiveremotes, depending on tractor config-uration. A sliding scale position indi-cator gives you a quick visual refer-ence for easier implement hook-up.Long ball-end lower links are option-al on tractors equipped with thehydraulic top link to provide theincreased tire clearance and hitchtransport ground clearance neededwith deep tillage implements.

A swinging drawbar is standard equipment, anda high-capacity, heavy-duty drawbar is optionalfor applications where extra-heavy upward anddownward loads are expected, such as with frontfold planters, liquid manure wagons and largegrain carts. The auto-pin hammerstrap (shownabove) automatically drops and latches the pinwhen you hook up to implements.

It’s an unbeatable team: your T8000 tractor with the 870TL front-end loader. This loader is com-patible with every T8000 axle configuration. Anotherbonus is the 129.3-inch wheelbase.It’s the longest in the industry togive you a smoother ride.

How SuperSteer™ worksThe SuperSteer axle is attached to

the tractor with a robust, heavy-dutyball-and-socket joint. As the tractorturns, the whole axle pivots to amaximum of 20 degrees, allowingthe outside wheel to move forward,in front of the nose of the tractor. Thisprovides more tire clearance and,when added to the 45-degree maxi-mum turn angle of the wheel ends,gives an effective steer angle of 65degrees.

Headland turns made easyThe SuperSteer axle saves time at

the end of every row by eliminatingthree-point or “lightbulb” turns. Withthe SuperSteer axle, you simply makeyour turn at the headland saving youfeet of travel, fuel consumption andthe most important resource of all—your time.

TerraGlide™ axle option providesa smoother ride and much more

Not only does the optionalTerraGlide™ suspended FWD axlegive you an ultra-smooth ride overthe roughest ground, it also deliversadded tractive effort for improvedstability and control. This electro-hydraulic suspended beam axledesign provides MORE advantagesthan an independent link suspensionwithout the complexity.

4.4 inches of travelThe TerraGlide™ axle keeps the

tires perpendicular to the terrain andprovides up to 4.4 inches of travel, tokeep the front tires in contact with theground — on any terrain and even atthe T8000’s 31-mph maximum trans-port speed. This constant groundcontact pressure provides constantpower to the ground, improvingstability, traction and steering control.And, it reduces the vibration andshocks that reach the cab so you get asmoother ride. In addition, front difflock is standard with this axle.

Easy disengagementIt’s easy to disable the TerraGlide

system when needed. Simply pressthe TerraGlide switch to lock the axle.By turning off the TerraGlide system,

your T8000 tractor can perform oper-ations that require precise front endcontrol, such as maintaining a thinspread of forages with a front bladein pit packing applications or keepinga consistent depth with a front three-point hitch.

The heavy-duty standard FWD axleThe T8030, T8040 and T8050 are

equipped with a four-pinion plane-tary and a 12-bolt hub design that willaccommodate dual wheels up to 120inches of tread setting. This front axleuses heavier construction, weighs 875pounds more than the 10-bolt hub onthe T8010 and T8020, and is designedto carry a static front weight of 13,300pounds. The 12-bolt hub is optionalon the T8010 and T8020.

Optional differential lockFor the added traction you need, or

to deal with difficult or slippery con-ditions, equip your T8000 tractor withthe electrohydraulic differential lockoption (standard with TerraGlidefront axle). With one switch you canengage both front and rear differentiallocks as needed. All four wheels turnat the same speed so you can easilypull through slick spots, or get thestraight-line steering you need whenopening up a field or lining up animplement for proper overlap. Youcan control the differential locksmanually or with the TerraLockfunction switches in automatic mode.

The SuperSteer™ axle moves the inside wheelout and away from the frame, providing more

tire clearance and a greater turning angle thanany other tractor on the market.
