The Coronavirus Prevention Guideline
NEW LIFESTYLE
1
【3 Basics to Avoid the Virus】
□ Practice Physical Distance ※ Avoid coming within 1-2 meters of anyone.
□ Wear a Mask ※ Each person must bring a replacement mask, just in case.
※ If anyone forgets their mask, the school will provide one.
※ To avoid heat stroke, anyone is allowed to remove their
mask if they are outside and at least 1-2 meters away from anyone.
□ Wash Your Hands(with Soap) ※ Always wash your hands before entering a classroom,
after leaving a classroom, after using the restroom,
and before/after lunch.
※ Bring your own hand towel to dry your hand.
【For Teachers】
□ The principal is responsible for health administration
system at school and must coordinate with the school
doctor and pharmacist.
□ Model the 3 Basics (①Practice Physical Distance ②Wear
a Mask ③Wash Your Hands) for the students.
□ Check your condition and take your temperature every
morning. Stay home and rest if you have any symptoms.
□ Use an empty room when the teachers’room becomes
too crowded. Avoid face-to-face conversations.
□ When having a meeting, use a big room, minimize the
number of members, and ventilate the area. If there is a
need to share some information, use C4th.
2
【Guidance for Students】
□ Students have to understand the importance and the
meaning of Coronavirus prevention. Teachers must
guide students to avoid risks by following the rules.
□ Students also have to know how to act in any situation
when they cannot be seen by teachers (e.g. on the way
home from school, in-between classes). ※ Let the students know that all floors or hallways are unclean.
□ Do not only tell students what to do, but also make them
think about what is best to prevent Coronavirus.
□ Students must know proper mask protocol (e.g. how to
wear it, how to throw it away). ※ Let students know that they should avoid touching their eyes, nose, or
mouth as much as possible.
□ Students must remember to bring the following 3 items
to school: ・Clean towel or tissues
・Extra mask(for emergencies)
・Clean cloth or bag for mask
3
【Before Going to School / Leaving from School】
□ Students must take their temperature in the morning at
home. If there are any cold or
Coronavirus-related symptoms,
he/she must stay home and rest.
□ If a student couldn't take their temperature at home,
he/she must do it at school using a contactless
thermometer in a different room. If they
have a fever, the teacher must inform the
parents and send the student home.
□ Students must wear a mask at all times, even on their way
to/from school. If a student is feeling sick by wearing a
mask, check on their condition. If the situation calls for it,
they may take the mask off. ※ Students will bring their own mask and also an extra mask in a bag.
※ If a student doesn't have a mask, the school will provide one.
※ If a student needs to take off their mask, practice physical distance.
□ Students should bring their own drink for hydration.
□ When going to and from school, try to avoid a situation
where students gather at the entrance. Also, remember
to practice physical distance when possible.
□ After getting to school, students should wash and/or
sanitize their hands before going into the classroom.
□ Cooperate with parents and volunteers
to watch students on their way to/from school.

【To Prevent Heat Stroke】
On the way to/from school in the summer (June-September), students may take
off their masks to prevent heat stroke.
□ Walking to/from school: ※ It is fine to take it off if there is enough space from others.
※ When not wearing a mask, be careful and mindful
of cough/sneeze etiquette and conversation.
※ Upon arrival at school, students should put a mask on
before entering.
□ Riding a bicycle to/from school: ※ It is fine to take it off if there is enough space from others.
※ When not wearing a mask, be careful and mindful of cough/sneeze
etiquette and conversation.
※ Upon arrival at school, students should put a mask on before entering.
□ Taking a bus to/from school: ※ The students have to wear masks on the bus (and use A/C and air
circulation when possible).
※ On the bus, create as much space as possible and be careful when
having conversations.
※ After getting off a bus, the walking rules apply.
← KEEP ENOUGH DISTANCE →
5
【At School】
□ Always keep the windows open. In a difficult situation (e.g.
rain), change the air as often as possible. Open opposite-
facing windows to create airflow. Be mindful to adjust
temperature by adding/removing layers. ※ Keep rooms ventilated even when the A/C is in use.
□ Wear a mask at all times.
□ Often sanitize and clean whatever everyone shares and
touches (e.g. doorknobs, handrails, light switches). ※ Wipe up only from one side.
□ In the classroom, create space (1m between desks), and
avoid having conversations with a loud voice.
□ Make basic virus prevention rules for lunch and break
times. ・How to spend time inside during a break
・How to spend time outside
・How to use playground equipment
・How to wash hands
□ Time schedules may altered with longer break times to
avoid students clustering around common areas, like
hand-washing stations.
□ During cleaning time, create ventilation and wear a mas ※ Sanitize shared cleaning tools before use.
※ Wash hands with soap after cleaning.
6
【In the Classroom】
1.Time Schedule
□ Class periods may occasionally be shortened (down to 40
or 45 minutes) in order to add an extra class period.
2.Measures to Take
□ When one window is open, also open the opposite side.
□ Sanitize shared teaching aids, textbooks, and IT devices.
Before and after students use any of these items, wash
and also sanitize your hands.
□ Abstain from activities involving outsiders. ※ No guest teachers or out-of-school activities.
□ Teachers should always be mindful of the
WetBulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) index. ※ WBGT is a measure of the heat stress in direct sunlight, which takes into
account: temperature, humidity, wind speed, sun angle, and cloud cover
(solar radiation).
3.Prevention of Activities (that can possibly
spread the virus from person to person)
□ Everyone should have their own supplies. Students
should not be sharing things when avoidable.
□ If items are shared, wash your hands before and after use.
□ The Following activities (①-⑥) possess the highest risk of
infection, even when measures are followed:
7
(★): higher risks of infection
① All subjects(★): Close proximity face-to-face group activities and
activities in which students use a loud voice while close to others.
② Science : Experiments and observations from a short distance.
③ Music ( ★ ) : Singing, playing instruments such as recorders and
harmonicas in a closed or cramped room.
④ Art : Collaborating, observing art from a short distance.
⑤ Home Economics(★): Cooking practice in close proximity to others.
⑥ P.E.(★): Activities that have physical contact with others.
4.Points of Attention for P.E. Class
□ Have P.E. classes outside when possible to avoid the risk
of heat stroke.
□ Activities should be individual efforts or a small number
of students so that proper distance can be maintained. ※ Wearing mask is not required when students are at least 2 meters apart and
not using loud voices. However, children may continue to wear masks if they
choose to do so.
□ Do warm-up exercises as usual. 2m
□ If parents do not wish for their student to participate in
P.E. class, clearly explain the preventative measures that
have been taken. If parents are still hesitant, then respect
their wishes and allow the student to not participate.
□ Be flexible as to whether or not P.E. class is feasible in light
of the actual circumstances each time.

【Lunch Time】
1. Serving the Food
□ Food servers should be aware of their own condition
every day. When a member has any ailments (e.g. diarrhea,
fever, stomachache, vomiting), other students or the
teacher should substitute.
□ The servers must wear clean and sanitary the
serving cloth (apron, cap, mask).
□ Wearing a mask is required for all servers
to effectively prevent the spreading of germs.
□ Washing hands before and after lunchtime is required for
all servers and students. Servers should not touch
anything (including their faces) after washing their hands.
□ While serving, try not to have unnecessary conversations.
Keep at 1 meter away from others at all times.
□ Do not share tongs in a self-serve style with a few people.
□ HRT should be in charge of second helpings.
□ Do not re-serve or redistribute food that has already been
served once to a student.
9
2.At the Table
□ Avoid facing each other.
Each sheet should keep 1-2 meters away from each other
as much as possible. At each table, avoid unnecessary
conversations.
□ Students may take off their masks after the greeting.
□ Always bring your own tissues and towel for any case, and
also, be mindful of cough etiquette. ※ Other ideas: Split the class in two and use spare rooms for lunch.
□ Students must put their masks on once finished eating.
3.After Eating
□ When finished, continue to wear a mask and leave 1-2
meters of space between you and others. Wait for further
instructions.
□ Schools need to have a time designated for discussion
with the school dentist and brushing teeth.
□ When brushing teeth, students should use their own cups,
sit at their own desks, and avoid any situation that is too
crowded (especially when rinsing their mouths).
10
【Club Activities】
□ If a club activity has
dense population situations or face-to-face
conversations, change the club style for a
while. In stages, slowly resume normal activities.
□ Frequent ventilation and hand sanitizer stations are
required for club activities in classrooms or the gym. Also,
avoid situations where a large number of students are
doing an activity together in a small room.
□ If the club activity needs equipment such as instruments
or balls, try to avoid sharing items as much as possible.
Change the practice style or methods if necessary.
□ Keep all equipment sanitized, and wash your hands
before and after touching or using any item.
□ At meetings, avoid crowds and create a safe distance of
1-2 meters between students and teachers.
□ When changing clothes in a club room, make sure that it
is not crowded.
□ During mask-less club activities (e.g. running) keep a
distance of at least 2 meters or more from others. Also,
avoid unnecessary conversations in such situations,
especially while moving in the same direction.
□ Wear a home-use (cloth or paper) mask. Do not wear a
medical grade or industrial mask, such as the N95.
11
【Mental Health】
□ Address mental health issues appropriately. Teachers and
school nurses need to assess the situation of students via
health observations. Schools may possibly conduct health
consultations and provide counselors for extra support.
□ Provide continuous support to students who had been
experiencing chronic absences before the school was
temporarily closed (including those who refuse to come to
school). Proactively engage with those students by
contacting their parents and professional staff.
□ If there is a suspected case of physical or emotional abuse
due to the appearance or observation of a student, do
not hesitate to contact the relevant authorities (i.e. police,
child consultation center, child welfare section).
【Prejudice / Discrimination】
□ Prejudice and discrimination of any kind to an infected
person, his/her close contacts and family, and medical
workers and their families, will not be tolerated. There is
zero tolerance for bullying.
□ Diffuse situations and respond appropriately to specific
needs of students who need more care (e.g. those who
are struggling to wear a mask or maintain distance).
