You are all probably asking yourself; “Mike, where was January’s issue?!” Okay, maybe not all of you, but most of you… or perhaps it was just that one person that asked me. Either way, I took a small vacation with the family to Florida to see if the weather is really as good as Pratt says it is. Guess what?... It is. Now I am back and ready to focus on work again and in that spirit, I have decided to give the newsletter a slight facelift. What do you think? Wait!... don’t tell me, you love it right? The Chatter Goes Down Smooth

How Was Your Holiday? The holidays are nice, but we get downright bored in the winter. We love it when our friends stop by and let us know how their holidays went. I have spoken with a couple of you and have heard stories of new jobs, new vehicles, sick kids (& parents), and of course, an abundance of food. As a reminder, we have had high winds and some heavy rain this winter. We have had a handful of people come to us with broken vents, water leaks, and awning issues. Come out and check on your RV then stop in to the parts store to say hello and stock up on supplies.

This rag-tag band of pirates were spotted sailing the Indian River on Christmas day. Their leader centered in the boat, Capt. Jaiden

Lane. Killer sunglasses Dude!

The holidays are over, the two day “Indian Summer” was nice, and the day you all move back to your permanent site is getting closer. Therefore, I need you folks to remember a few things as the winter gets cold again. I have been getting a number of complaints concerning dog droppings and dogs not being on leashes. Read the rules guys! You must pick up after your dog every time they go. Please do not leave any droppings lay. All Dogs Must be on a Leash! STATE LAW!

Next on my agenda is a discussion on where to park. As I have asked you all in the past. Please do not park in the grass. It kills the grass, leaves ruts, and causes people to get stuck. There is more than enough room to park your car in front of your camper, providing you leave room for a truck and trailer to get through. Also, make sure you do not park in front of the outside water faucet on the North side of the Shelter. Thank you for your help with keeping the grounds clean.

Harry Swearinger (1923-2017)

shop during the show. You could always stop in and see what they were making next. Harry was always ready to teach the kids about the tools needed and methods used for blacksmithing and rope making. On January 14, 2017 Harry passed away at the age of 93; just before his 94th birthday. Much of Harry’s family lives local and many reside in Florida, where he lived for the past few years. If Harry was standing right in front of me, he wouldn’t know me from Adam… but he would never act like it. God bless you Harry; Heaven acquired a great angel in you.

Harry Swearinger was a great friend of Poor Farmer’s. I remember when I first started coming to the tractor shows. Harry and a couple of his buddies occupied the Blacksmith

Coming Soon! Poor Farmer’s Activity Committee

Trailer

The illustrious Poor Farmer’s Activity Committee has been working hard for your enjoyment. This year they will have a mobile headquarters at their disposal. Complete with A/C, awning, registration window, storage and of course, a toilet. Pictures will be available once the trailer is complete.

Congratulations to the future Mr. & Mrs. Shane Miles!

Some of you have been keeping up with Facebook and have heard the news, but there are still some of you who think Facebook is what happens when you fall asleep while reading. For those folks, we have to get them their news in the Chatter. “Shamy” has not yet set a date, but are both very excited to be married. I mean look at that picture to the right, those three are perfect together. Uh… what?... That’s right, I said

three. Shane and Amy are pregnant. However, after spending a couple weeks with Shane down in Florida, I am still trying to figure out if the kid will be all human or 50% Goofball. Those of you who have met Shane will understand. All kidding aside, I am happy for my sis and her soon to be hubby. She is as happy as I have ever seen her; at least until the morning sickness, cramps, moodiness and water retention kick in. Good Luck you three!

Get on the List! Rumor has it that I have multiple lists. Some lists you might want to be on and some you don’t. Well, the rumor is true, I have a list for just about everything. There is a list for new campers waiting for a spot, one for current campers who still need to catch up on their 2016 electric fees, a list for folks to hook up when I hit the lottery, even a list for those I need to seek revenge on; that one you probably want to stay off of. However, if you are interested in moving campsites, give us a call and get your name on that list. The sooner you get your name on the list the better options you could have. Speak now or forever hold your peace! Not really forever… but not being on the list could delay you a couple days.
