NEW ME IN SL
Much like the old me
Do you think my avatar looks like the real me? Here I am inside the world’s largest geode.
Fixing my appearance; I am embarrassed to admit that I still can’t resolve things about my avatar looks; I originally wanted her to look just like me; but she doesn’t. I can’t seem to find better shoes and I can’t get rid of the denim skirt I picked up somewhere. (I confess that I made her thinner this time; the new skirt was making her look fat.)
Third Course but exploring is still fun
Getting an Earth Science Perspective: I transitioned from bio to earth this term.
I would use SL to get ideas and research projects; I would encourage students to do the same; to use it to see what other users are doing for projects and allow this to influence their own work.
Learning to fly; for some reason I can’t fly very high and I bump into things; I can’t ride the horse, either, him I just go right through, like a virtual ghost.
Genome Island is one of my favorite spots
Students can actually conduct experiments in virtual labs here; they can test out their own theories and it doesn’t cost any lab equipment; what a great preparatory environment; usually labs are limited to materials that must be pre-purchased and it requires a lot of planning.
A meeting from the summer term; and part of our live discussion.
NOAA Island
Students can make weather predictions for their own region and test theories about weather patterns using the maps.
