    The pr es en t work s tu di es a new uni ve rs al method f o r search f o r optimalparameters based on th e use of Haar f u n c t i o n s (2,4) .

    This method can be called LP s ea r ch , s i n c e i n p l ace o f t h e random p o i n t si n a mult id imens ional cube, we u s e t h e p o i n t i n an LP T sequence ( 2 ) . Thesep o i n t s a r e n o t random and are di st r i b ut e d much more evenly t han random po in ts .However, ca lc ul at io n of t he se poi nt s by computer i s q u i t e simple.

    For fu r t he r improvement of th e parameters of th e models, w e used o rd inarylo ca l methods (1 ) . Inc ide nta lly , i n many problems, no improvement was r eq u i r ed ,s i nc e a su ff ic ie nt ly good model was achieved i n the f i r s t s t a g e .

    We note two more s i tu a t io ns , i n which th e use of random, and pa r t ic ul ar lyLP s ea r ch , i s q u i t e ex p ed i en t :
