DEADLINE FOR APRIL NEWSLETTER
IS APRIL 12, 2016
Greetings to all! Hope that all our members are accounted for after the snow
storm that we had last week. When our friendly forecaster lets us know that
a storm is approaching l keep a close eye on how much snow has fallen. It just
makes more sense to shovel it periodically so it does not get overwhelming. In
this case it fell during the night, so we all awoke to the ’’past’’ your ears in
snow. Was glad that l did not have to be at a job. My dear neighbour was not
prepared, and franticly clearing snow out of the way, finally jumped in his
truck and drove through it, I imagine just to make it to work on time.
Now that “Spring is here” (I’m sticking to it) l would like to remind everyone
that there are positions that will need to be filled in the committees. Every
year usually one (or more) are needed to fill a spot. If you come forward and
volunteer for a position it really is a load off the shoulders of the nominating
committee. We truly thank any one that gives even a small amount of time. If
we don’t have an executive we don’t have a guild.
Quilt Show --- Everyone is involved with this show. If you sign up early, you
get the jobs that you will find very enjoyable. I know the show is in 2018, but
take my word for it, as an old person, the time really passes by at a break neck
speed, and before we know it, another year has passed. The dates for sewing
the Raffle Quilt are listed below. Please keep these in mind also.
REMINDER—Our Meeting is MONDAY, March 14th. April we will be back to
the third Tuesday; April 19th
Wishing everyone a very Blessed Easter. President, Marie Bolton

RAFFLE QUILT WORKSHOPS
In April we will begin our workshops to assemble the raffle quilt for the 2018 quilt show. The dates that we have reserved are: Saturday, April 23; Wednesday, April 27; Thursday, April 28 and Wednesday, May 4. It is our hope, that with enough participation, we will be able to make this quilt in four days or less. We are really hoping that everyone will participate. If you have never paper pieced or you are unsure of how it is done this is a great opportunity to learn a new skill or if you really dislike paper piecing there are other tasks that will require your talents. At the beginning of each session Marilyn Brocklebank will be presenting a paper piecing tutorial for the beginners or just a refresher for those with experience. In order to get an idea of how many members we can expect at each session we will be circulating a signup sheet at the March 15th guild meeting.
Together we will make a beautiful quilt. Helen Meyer

Mirror Mirror Star Block
Pat will be set up at the March meeting to help anyone with this block – those who need further explanation and
those who were not at February meeting. She will also accept the blocks that are finished.
Completing Outreach Quilts
Outreach has a few quilts available if anyone wishes to hand quilt them. During one of the spring afternoon work
sessions, outreach will have a quilt set up to be tied. Those wanting to learn this technique are encouraged to
attend. Also, in May the Program Committee has booked Judy Williams to teach Machine Quilting on your home
machine. Outreach has comfort quilts to complete so this is an excellent opportunity to put the skills learned in
her class into practice. Simple machine quilting is all that is necessary for outreach quilts.
Monday Workshop -March 14, 2016
At 1:00 pm outreach will be working on unfinished tops that need sashing, borders, etc to be completed. String
quilt blocks need to be assembled into tops. As always, outreach will give instructions on the making the sinful
