SourcesDigital sources that are NaimNet or StreamNet compliant connect directly to the network at any location and

can be played in any room. The NaimNet and StreamNet protocols allow devices to be discovered in the

Dealer Setup programmes for simple installation, and takes care of many confi guration matters automatically.

CamerasThe standard Ethernet network that hosts NaimNet will also carry all

normal PC traffi c as well as connecting other IP devices such as IP

Cameras which can be used for security, door entry and baby sitting.

NaimNet is pre-confi gured to make the range of Panasonic IP cameras

very simple to use and install. Drivers are included for Pan, Tilt and Zoom,

and images can be displayed full screen or 4 cameras to a screen.

Wireless cameras are also fully supported.

LightingDevelopment is taking place with several manufacturers of lighting

systems who have IP connectivity. This will allow direct IP connectivity

and bi-directional control.

It is also very simple to provide integration using the NetStreams’

ControLinX product, which achieves robust RS-232 control of systems

having serial control.

In Europe control modules are currently written for Mode Lighting,

Rako, and Lutron, greatly simplifying installation and easily achieving

reliable integration.

Heating and VentilationApplications are written to enable basic heating and ventilation control

from Mode lighting controls. Further products and partnerships are planned.

NaimNet NNVMS 88 Video Matrix SwitchNaim NVRB 01 Video Room BoxThe NaimNet NNVS 88 is an 8 input x 8 output matrix video switch

Video Distribution and SwitchingTo match the superb audio quality of NaimNet requires very special video switching and distribution.

Systems IntegrationSystems integration between A-V, Lighting, Heating and Surveillance can be achieved easily with IP

connected devices. Naim is working with several manufacturers to create native IP connected systems which

will have simple installation and confi guration.

Systems Integration with IR and RS-232NetStreams’ ControLinX CL100 is very simple to set up and offers systems

integration with RS-232 or IR. Additionally there are IR tools for the NaimNet

Room Amplifi ers and the NNC 01 Pre-amplifi er has IR and RS-232 capability.

Installer ToolsNaimNet is a radical concept in achieving outstanding performance and new levels of control for the end

user. For the installer we have also incorporated many innovative features to simplify installation and support.

Integrated Dealer Setup – NaimNet and NetStreams’ DigiLinXA complete NaimNet system can be confi gured in a fraction of the time a comparable conventional system of

lesser consumer appeal might take.

This is in part because the network-connected devices are able to negotiate many settings between

themselves freeing the installer of any need to understand IP networks beyond the very basic. NaimNet and

NetStreams’ DigiLinX devices on the same network negotiate together.

Similarly, there is also a powerful application, NaimNet Dealer Setup running on Windows PC, which is used

to confi gure the individual devices and rooms. Dealer Setup seamlessly confi gures both NaimNet and

NetStreams’ DigiLinX devices at the same time for painless integration of the two systems.

Dealer Setup can be used ‘offl ine’, in front of the end client while taking the brief even, or ‘on line’ connected

to the NaimNet network, in which case after setting the confi guration of all devices the confi g is uploaded

with just a single button press.

All confi guration fi les can be archived.

Auto DiscoveryDealer Setup running on a PC connected to the NaimNet Network will automatically discover most of the

devices that make up the system, both NaimNet and NetStreams’ DigiLinX, making for simple confi guration.

There are also installer tools to easily identify specifi c rooms or devices before labelling and confi guration.

Remote AccessNaimNet is designed to allow remote access for system diagnostics.

Remote access is also planned to support external confi guration of pre-confi gured systems, for example where

installation to a template is made in apartments and later customisation is then called for when occupied.

Remote access is provided by a secure infrastructure, and access by the end user is also possible for viewing

of cameras or control of lighting from remote locations. The infrastructure is provided as part of the support

tools for the NaimNet NS01 series Music Servers.

Naim Extended Music DatabaseWith the Naim Extended Music Database all your music is at your fi ngertips, fi nding your favourite music is now

even easier than fi nding a CD on the shelf!

Music Servers can hold a huge number of discs, but fi nding that music was not always easy. Particularly Jazz

or Classical Music. The data supplied by the record companies to other brands of Servers has just been too

sketchy for anything other than Pop music.

Naim has partnered with All Music Group – AMG – to access a valuable database of data for all Genres of

recordings available in minute detail.

The resulting Naim Extended Music Database makes full use of all this additional information (where available).

This information is available for both the whole CD or set. The information is also available for each track, so that even compilation albums become easy to navigate. The fact that a single CD may be assembled from several different works, with different artists, does not in any way restrict searching and playing.

Multiple discs in a CD set, for example Opera or Musicals, may be all grouped as one work, and are then identifi ed and play without unexpected gaps at the transition between discs. Individual movements or sections of a work are easily identifi ed.

Naim Network ScanningMusic downloads have changed the way music is purchased, and many

homes have PCs that are used to download to iPods and other portable

devices.

Now all of the downloaded music* can be accessed and played via

the Naim Music Server, together with full searching and control, and

display of album art when available.

The Naim Server maintains a constant watch on the network - looking

for either new downloads, or machines added or taken away, and

compiles an accurate list of all playable music available.

* Only playable fi les are available. DRM protected fi les such as AAC are not available.

Naim Digital Music Dock - iPod and Sony PSPWhenever an iPod or other player such as a cell phone, Sony PSP, or an MP3 portable

is played directly through the main Hi-Fi system it is obvious that the sound quality is

compromised by the headphone output.

Using Naim Digital Music Dock, simply plugging the player into a convenient

socket on the front of the Naim server bypasses the poor quality audio

stages and plays digitally directly from the internal hard disc of the player!

Uniquely, with Naim Digital Music Dock one portable player can deliver

multiple playback streams.

Naim Music Servers seamlessly integrate Music stored on portables,

and music on other network shared devices, into one single library and

adds Album Art and much richer data from which to browse, select,

play, and create playlists*.

24bit Digital to Analogue converters and audiophile analogue electronics ensure that Naim Servers perform to the same demanding standards as any other Naim Hi-Fi component.

Internal storage expands to accommodate the music being stored, but thecapability to store 24 bit digital music fi les means that Naim Servers are effectively future proofed against advancing digital music standards.

Naim Multi Server SyncIf you love music, then you will want your collection available wherever you are.

Now with Naim Multi-server Sync any of your* Servers can maintain contact and synchronise their contents –

even in different homes, or on the yacht. This means that wherever you shop for your CDs they can be loaded

onto all servers from the most convenient machine.

* Synchronised machines are assigned to one individual user for reasons of copyright. There may be some limitations imposed for downloaded music.

Naim also includes simple tools so that you can access your server from a remote PC. This might be in the

offi ce making it easy to compile playlists for the Barbecue later, and you can even preview the Playlist or

sample some tracks on any internet connected PC.

Audiophile Sound QualityNaim Servers store music with bit-for-bit accuracy. Every musical nuance is copied onto the hard drive without

any compression for selection and playback at your convenience. Playback is bit-accurate and dependent

solely on the fi delity of the data converters and analogue output stages.

Multi-Room ReadyAll Naim Music Servers are NaimNet enabled for high quality distribution

Naim Audio servers models NS02 and NS03 have four independent

audiophile quality outputs and are ideal for use in conventional Multi-

Room systems (with matrix switching or central controllers), so that the

music collection, even including connected iPod or other network

shared devices, can be enjoyed and independently controlled by up to

four different people in different rooms.

Crestron and AMX control applications are already written to simplify

incorporation in these whole home control systems, and the servers are

part of the Crestron I2P programme.

Naim Secure Music StorageSecurity of a stored music collection is paramount. The capacity to store so much music means that if there should there be a

mishap with the internal hard drive, a library of music could be lost forever.

• With the Naim Secure Music Archive, (optional on some machines) this need not be a concern - a second internal hard drive constantly maintains a full backup.

Naim RS-232 Controlled Devices

Uncompromised fi delity is the hallmark of Naim A-V components. The cutting-edge technology that delivers this performance is constantly

employed internally to monitor and control the detailed functions of

Naim components. Using standard RS-232 protocols the components in

this document can all be externally controlled for Multi-Room and Home

automation applications by control systems such as AMX and Crestron.

RS-232 protocols are downloadable from the Naim Custom Installation

website (www.naimnet.com).

Crestron drivers are provided for Crestron Integration – quality assured as

part of the Crestron I2P partner programme.

Crestron skins have been created to match the house style of the

NaimNet interfaces - freely downloadable from www.naimnet.com

AMX applications will be available under the AMX Duet programme.

Several components are also NaimNet equipped for IP distribution and

control. The devices with front panel LCD control allow a versatile mix of
