he SummitThe 2016 Changemaker Student Summit

brings students from around the world

together with a passion and drive to create

real sustainable change on campus, in their

local communities and globally through

innovation and creative leadership.

This year’s conference is hosted by the

University of Northampton Students’ Union

in Northampton, England with the aim of

developing skills and building networks in

local efforts to tackle the achievement of

one of the UN’s Global Goals – to fight and

reduce inequality.

But extraordinary aims require grass root

action and that’s where we come in!

This year’s conference seeks to address

contemporary issues in inequalities at

home and abroad through a series of

internationally renowned guest speakers

including Baroness Oona King alongside

a structured social incubator facilitated

through SIX, Social Innovation Exchange,

that will enable delegates to identify a

shared problem, conceive local solutions

and set out plans for interventions and

activities to deliver long lasting impact in

their communities.

Together we can look collectively to begin

addressing the inequalities we see and

experience every day.

SpeakersThrough a series of high profile guest

speakers we want to inspire delegates to

consider contemporary issues in inequalities

globally and innovative solutions in their

own communities.

Oona KingBaroness King of Bow and Head of Diversity

at Channel 4. Until January 2009, Oona was

Senior Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister

on Equalities, Diversity and Faith. Oona

is Chair of the Institute for Community

Cohesion (iCoCo), Founding Chair of the

All-Party Parliamentary Group on Genocide

Prevention in the House of Commons; and

Chair of Rich Mix Cultural Foundation, a GBP

30m project which seeks to bring different

communities together through art.

By winning the Bethnal Green & Bow seat

in 1997, King became only the second

black woman to be elected as Member of

Parliament. During her time in Parliament,

Oona changed the law in five areas, including

housing policy and equalities policy. In her first

year in the House of Lords she was nominated

for ‘Campaigning Peer of the Year’.

Innovation DinnerThis formal banquet dinner will provide

delegates the opportunity to continue the

conversations they’ve had throughout the

day on the conference floor with some of

Northamptonshire and England’s leading

social entrepreneurs at their very own

tables. Kicked off with a facilitated panel

discussion and debate on a topic to only be

revealed on arrival our Innovation Dinner is

one that is sure to be filled with a number

of interesting and varied ideas and points

of view!

Local BrewsAter a long day of discussion and debate we invite our delegates to the University

of Northampton Students’ Union. The

Union, which prides itself on being one of

only two Students’ Unions in the country

to provide free sports and socieies opportuniies free of charge to all students, will be opening its doors to a number of local

small microbreweries for guests to sample

alongside some of Northampton’s most

promising young musical acts.

England and within easy travelling distance of

London, Birmingham and other major centres.

We are served by ive internaional airports and excellent road and rail links to all parts of

the UK and Europe - making us perfectly suited

to hosing the second annual Changemaker Student Summit.

The Summit is hosted at the University of

Northampton’s Park Campus, located in the

suburbs of Northampton and set in 80 acres

of open green park land. Free transport will

be provided to and from the Conference each

morning and evening from our selected hotels so

you don’t need to worry about local transport.

AccomodationWe’ve put together two accommodaion packages you can book when booking to atend the Changemaker Student Summit in Northampton this spring!

Both locaions ofer quality stays on a student budget and are situated right in the centre of Northampton on Gold Street, a short 5 minute walk from Northampton’s train and bus

staions, as well as a number of cafes, bars and restaurants.

Free transport will be provided to and from the Conference each morning and evening from

your hotel so you don’t need to worry about local transport.

Ibis Hotel Northampton is a budget hotel in the

centre of Northampton, part of the Sol Central

leisure and entertainment complex. The hotel’s
